    Front brake pads (track)

Looking to put new front pads on the R6. It will be for track use only, not street. Any recommendations for good pads to try?

I have Galfer street/track on my street bike and they are pretty nice. Plus I put EBC HH on the back, and they seem fine. It's kind of hard to tell, because I don't really use the back brake very often.

    Thanks in advance!

Dunno if they'll fit, but maybe you two should hook up: http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forum...ad.php?t=32836

Yup, saw that. It's what made me think of this thread. But:
    1. Mine's a 1999
    2. Wondering if they are the best pads for me. The Ferodo rep bad mouthed EBC. But it's coming from a biased source, so I thought I would employ the awesome powers of the CSC to help me.

There are no bad brake pads for you R6. They are all good and just have different characteristics to them. Some have more initial bite, some are more progressive, some wear real quickly, some last a long time. I have used Galfer, EBC, Vesrah, Ferodo and Performance Friction. I prefer the Vesrah or Performance Friction over the rest. They have alot of initial bite and last a long time. The Ferodo XRAC are similiar in feel but the Ferodo CP211 have a much more progressive feel and not as much bite, and they dont last very long.

Thanks Jim! Good info. I guess any brake pad is good...as long it slows you down.

I like the feel of more bite up front. The progressive braking kind of freaks me out (which is what I think is on there now). And I suppose the longer lasting, the better, right? I'll have to do some research.

I would look into the sintered (I that is how you spell it) pads. I put them on the R1, and they are amazing on the track.

Yeah Patrick, that's what I was thinking too. Good to hear you like them. I did a little searching before starting this thread and it looks like Brian had brought those up before.

Sully, I need really good pads to go that slow! Normal pads don't slow me down enough to go the speed I feel comfortable at.

I got mine at Grand Prix for about seventy bucks. Let me know if you need help installing them.

I put braded lines and EBC HH pads on before the last track day and I could feel a substantial difference. The lines by far gave me more for my $ then the pads. No break fade at all which made for consistant breaking all day.

Joe, I agree 100%. I put Galfer pads and braided lines on my street bike and it made a world of difference. What a great investment!!!! The track bike already has lines, otherwise I would throw those on there right away. Did you like the EBC's?

Jim @ TFOG sweet talked () me into buying a pair of EBC's as replacements on the 929. Feels nice n' tight now. Just remember to heat cycle those mofo's. Next up for me is some SS lines.
