    Thoughts on this Trailer?

Has anyone ever used one of these? I have a small garage and this would be ideal for the occasional track day. Don't have any other need for a trailer other than track days so I'm trying to keep it simple.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

VERY bad idea to use a trailer like that! Almost all modern motorcycle transmissions are lubricated from the *engine* oil pump. If the engine isn't turning then no oil flows around the transmission bearings. You could take off the chain but that's a pain (no rhyme intended!)

If you're going to put the miles on the tire, why not just put the miles on the bike? Plus, you're putting miles on the more expensive of two tires... Bad idea IMO.

I have not owned one, but some people like these.

    http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42708

You could weld some feet onto the back of it or side so when not in use roll it over/up to take up less room.

Another option is the folding trailer type

Depending on your tow vehicle and bike, this is an idea.

I have a harbor freight trailer that I towed my 600RR 1600 miles back home with and it worked fine, other than the tail light being out, but that may have been from wiring in my car.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking about before I saw this item on ebay.. I like the fact that it folds up against the wall to only 2 feet deep for tight storage. Can you tell me if the rear extension and front part slide into the main body when folded? The website says it stores at 5ft wide by 2ft deep but it doesn't mention the height. Also, can you tell me if it can store on its side? Guess I was just fishing for an even simpler solution with the wheelie tow.

Appreciate the input from everyone. Hey it was just a thought.

    Re: Thoughts on this Trailer?

I don't remember where I saw it or who the manufacturer is, but there is a trailer that you can roll your bike up on that actually dissassembles and stores in a bag. Sounds funny, but it looks pretty damn solid when put back together. It's about a grand or so. Just a suggestion for a trailer that you can store with limited space in a garage and would be far better than the one you are looking at. Otherwise get something like the hitch rack like McVaaahhh posted above. You can get it in a couple of configurations.

I was thinking about getting one of these for my Mazda 3, but keep hearing mixed reviews. I take it you are a fan?

I have a small dirt-bike one that I throw my pitbike on the back of my Tahoe, but I've never put a sportbike on one before. I tried on my little one but there was no way it was going to hold my RC-51.

Jess bad bad idea to put that on your Mezda. Your car would not be able to Support that kind of weight. Hitch weight plus bike weight equals right around 500lbs. My class 4 hitch on my jeep GC can only handle 500lbs max.

+1 Agreed.. Look into your vehicles tow set up. Some are set up on distibuted load at the rear/bumper. Some are directly supported by the frame and can carry much more. IE - my jeep wrangler would have a hitch that ties directly to my frame, thus I can carry more load because it's not a distributed load system.

Forget using the Mazda. You need a class 3 or 4 receiver and a vehicle capable of handling a 500lb tongue weight. In other words a SUV or pickup. Regarding the carriers we sell the ones for dirt bikes every day and they work great but I have no experience with the ones rated for sport bikes.

To the original poster, one more vote to forget that front wheel carrier!

Here is the real question.. How much do you want to spend on a trailer?

I would not put my bike on a harbor freight trailer. But thats just me.
