    best ride ever

So this is what I have come up with so far. Im looking to do a 2-3 day ride through the more gorgeous parts of the state.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour....482178&num=10

the only glitch in the google.maps is it decided independence pass doesnt exist, however, that is the way I would take it.

Rides are always better with other people, so whose in? Im thinking this would happen either anytime durring any weekdays, or on the weekend of july 18 and 19. I am very open to route ammendments. I can do this in either 2 days or 3 days, whichever people want.

    Whose in?

I would redo your start and skip Sprucewood to Deckers, the 4 miles of dirt road isn't too bad, although most prefer to not ride it, but they just resurfaced 67 from Rampart Range road (as of 2 weeks age, maybe more now) all the way to the Bar with the chip seal proccess so that road is crap now for a year or so.

Also instead of taking 160 past Durango to Cortez (it's just a long ass straight road with a lot of construction all the way to the 4 corners). I'd take 160 to Durango then take us-550 North (the view and road is amazing) then continue onto us-50 and east on co-92. then continue with your route.

Head south on 92 through Black Canyon before you get to Delta, that's a way better route for fun and scenery.

Thats the way I would go.
160 is nice up by tullieride(however is spelled) but I think 550 is better.

trust me man... you really need to to cut out the route to Cortez and just ride up 550 from Durango through Silverton to Ouray and continue on to the 50 to the 92. They don't call that road the Million Dollar Highway for nothing.

    Two Things:

    1. Blow off Cortez. Take CO 184 from Mancos over to Dolores then take CO 145 up through Rico, over Lizard Head Pass to To-Hell-U-Ride.
    2. Also don't retrace your route if you go to glam-town Aspen and do CO 82 Independence Pass from Twin Lakes as it is somewhat spectacular.
Take it from a bunch that sorta know what their doing when it comes to route planing

thats the plan. fricken google maps refuses to acknowledge that independence pass is open for the season.

bikes riding fine. Just a little mixing and matching with the parts bike and all is well. I had it roadworthy the next day. I have prolly put on >1500 miles since then. I also revisited the scene of the crash. My skid stripe is already gone

by the way, what tires are you currently running? You seemed to be pretty pleased with them. im due for some new shoes

Right on. That skid mark was pretty good! You could have saved it if those holes in the grass were'nt there. Glad to hear the bike is A ok and you have put on some serious mileage. I am running Bridgestone BT-021's. They are fairly cheap and last forever. I run 35psi in the front and 38 in the rear. Awesome tires. They will do everything. They have great traction, just a little lack of feel. traction enough to bump your knee every once and awhile. I heard you want to take a trip later on in July, a bud and I are headed to Arizona, branching off and then heading to Mt. Rushmore to catch a few day's at Sturgis before riding to Michigan. Dates are the 23 of July-Aug 4, coming back through the UP of MI starting Aug 15, hitting the Harley Museum in Millwaukee, then buzzing over to Minnesota and Montana leaving the 19th, if you want to meet up somehwere around there. Sturgis is a trip if you are able to go. Be fun take a trip with you.
