How many places have you walked into with a resume?
I guess I'm the asshole, it took me two weeks to start work after moving here...

I've been actively searching for work since December 22nd with no real luck, so it's not really all that easy. I have a variety of skills that are well documented, and in reality there are a lot of people out there with the same situation. I congratulate you on finding a job so quickly.
That being said, there are probably more entry level positions available than anything else right now.
David - If you are really serious about the skills you have, being able to DEMONSTRATE them would be more important than being able to document them. I worked for years in a factory where we did a lot of welding. If someone came in the door and said "I know how to weld, you wanna hire me?" we'd say "sure, come over here to this welding rig and show us your skills". If they could weld, we would hire them.
Also, you should put together a resume, even if you don't think you have much to put on there. Write down all the jobs you've done in the last 5 years and the things that you had to do during that job. If you were a driver, then you had an immense amount of responsibility. Write down the number of miles per year that you drove professionally and the number of miles since your last accident or ticket. That demonstrates something that is valuable to an employer.
Good luck to all in their work search

RYBO: That's a good idea. I had my skills listed but not quite that way. I will re-write it and see how it comes out.
brennahm: No your not an A-hole, just employed. And my new best friend. Can I borrow some money? lol

I'm going to try ebanks website again. Maybe, something new popped up.
My point was not that it's easy to find a job, simply that calling and emailing will get you nowhere. Unless of course you like riding the unemployment pony and prefer it to even a low paying job.
It wouldn't hurt!!
Of course it would cut into your precious "forum" time
