I've always used Lee Major (he's been with other companies, now independent and can check multiple companies). I think he rides a Harley so don't fault him, he's a great guy! I have a ticket on my record still, and my insurance through Progressive (from Lee) is $42/mo. I've also got full insurance, $500 deductible, and am still paying off the Superhawk. PM me if you want his info =)

It's all about your driving record, age, bike and if you can believe it, credit history.

If you are under 25 and a male, insurance will be high on a sport bike.

If you ride a 1000cc sport bike and just got it a month ago, rates will be high.

If you have had a lot of speeding tickets/crashes, rates will be high.

And as far as the bike, if its a brand new bike (08/09) it will be a lot more expensive to insure than, say, an 05/06. I checked the rates for myself on the same bike (both VFR800 and a Daytona 675), comparing a 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008. And if I had to choose, I would rather have the 00/04 and pay less in insurance than not be able to afford the insurance to ride the bike I really want.

So, care to provide details on those things?

    Re: insurance rates

You are a funny guy ,,I happen to know most if not all of the criteria regarding my motorcycle and why the rates are different at various companies,,I have had about 15 sportbikes through the years not a spring chicken either,,one ticket last three years thank god,,,and the rate was almost the same for my 02 cbr954 considered a liter bike as my 07 cbr 1000 so what is the deal,,,these places are crazy ..I know there has to be a cheap company perhaps out of state that has something to offer me...save some cash,,,,

    Re: insurance rates

I pay $27/month for full coverage through State Farm with the HIGHEST limits available. Before I turned 25, it would have been ridiculously high so I waited another 6 months till I was 25.

If this means what I think it does (that you know why coverage costs a lot at differing companies) then why not post up what you are looking for. From what I have seen, you are looking for a $500 deductible (but on what, just collision?) and you have a 2007 CBR1k. Also, you have had one ticket in 3 years (assuming it was a minimal ticket and not a 10 pointer).
