    sport touring bike rental

Question. Anybody have any expierience renting sport touring bikes. I sold my street bike and only have a race bike right now. I am looking to do a 5 day weekend ride at the end of this month. I am looking for someting like a VFR or sprint or something like that. I have found a couple companies, but they are all like 160 a day or something insane like that. Anybody got any suggestions for the last weekend of this month

Thanks for the info. I just talked with www.tourbikes.com they have a VFR for rent with bags. Here is the problem.

    $140 a day. For 5 days. $700 bucks
$20 a day for insurance is $100 (My insurance wont cover rental recerational vehichles. WTF)
$2.50 per day, some weird unknow fee attached to tax.
    11.5% tax. Grand total

    $893 Bucks.

Holy crap the fees are making this trip and renting just plain stupid. I am thinking of buying a Sprint RS I looked at, but I may have to sell it quickly after the trip, because I might be leaving ect..

I just don't see renting motorcycles as being a cheap option. Your best bet to do it on the cheap would be to borrow/rent one from an individual. And no, you can't have mine.

Ron was good. Nice guy. All he had was the Vstrom mini (650), but it was $579 for the trip. That is about price I was going wanting to spend for the VFR. Anybody got any recommendations? How would the mini vstrom be for me over about 816 twisty miles one way?

Any private parties interested in renting? Plenty of expierience and I will figure out insurance.

I have been eyeing a Sprint RS very closley, but I might be moving and I am trying to get rid of toys right now, not the other way around. It looks like if I do this trip I might have to buy.

There's a local guy here who rents out VStrom 650s. Pretty decent rates too.

Should be great! Mine is the 1K and it's a great trip bike. The 650 doesn't have the sheer "fuck off" factor of the 1K but it's still a whole lot of fun.
