    Chain Lube

What do you use and why? I have tried PJ1, Royal Purple, Liquid Wrench (yes, they make a chain lube), some shit made in Switzerland (can't remember the brand), Honda, and Bel-ray. PJ1 was OK, but it did sling a little too much. Royal Purple was great, but I can't find it. Liquid Wrench sucked (Duh) and the Swis shit was worse, made a big mess, slung all over the place. The Honda stuff slung too. I just started using the Bel-ray and so far, so good, but I was just wondering what else is out there?

I used Chain Wax for a couple of cans. It was great at not flinging off but it seemed to collect small gravel on the chain which I didn't like. Now I use DuPont Teflon Dry Film Lubricant. It works great and doesn't fling off, and it's only $5.

Its all in how you apply it. We use it for all the chains on our rental bikes, if it wasn't quick, easy, and most of all a great product we wouldn't use it.

Alisyn synthetic chain lubricant Repackaged as Lowes chain lube
    • Doesn't collect grit
    • cleans up with a dry rag (no solvent)
    • Just reapply (no cleaning)
    • It works
Only downfall is that it does fling off (which is why it wont grit up) and needs reapplied religiously every 500 miles. I've done the wax based and other dry lubes and I will never go back. Bye Bye kerosene.

I like Alisny but I have yet to try DuPont Teflon Chain Lube

Used both and liked, but didn't see a whole lot of difference. I applied thin coat and frequently, not much splatter unless I put too much and easy to clean off.

Jim, I have no idea what I use, but I like it LOL. I think it's Optima, but I'd have to check when I get home. For all I know, it could be Repsol.
