    Safety Wire 101

Last year Lurch and TK Motorsports put together a day that we could come into the shop and Lurch showed us some of the in's and out's of safety wire our bikes.

If Doug and TK wanted to do this again that would be pretty cool... But this is REALLY short notice...

So found this site off another forum and thought it was helpful...

Hope this helps some of the new ppl

after reading this stuff i can see why people take their bikes to TK for wire rather than doing it themselves... that's probably what'll i'll do too when the time comes.

    very good info though

It really isn't that hard to do guys. Just takes patience and a couple of charged drill batteries. You can get the bits at Harbor Freight by the dozen very cheap (which is good, cause you're going to break several and wear the rest down).

FWIW, I found that a plug-in/corded (as opposed to cordless) drill works better - it gets higher RPMs and ends up breaking less drill bits then when I was using my cordless. Your mileage may vary.
