    Digital Gear Indicators

Does anyone find these things helpful? I just got myself a Digital Gear Indicator by Datatool a few weeks ago. It doesn't have the factory harness and I was just curious if anyone had installed these before (i.e. are they a huge pain in the @ss to install). I own an '01 GSXR 1K and haven't taken the time to install it yet. Does anyone have a link or can email me some pages with the factory wiring diagrams for my bike? That would be extremely helpful. Also some good installation tips or persoanal experiences would be great to hear.

I'd like to have one, but don't yet. They're quite easy to install.

I've had gear indicators and shift light indicators.
The shift light was vastly more usefull. IMO.

I found myself ignoring the gear indicator... cuz it just didn't matter.

Too fast is too fast no matter which gear you're in.

I have one on my R6, but it's not working properly (possibly a wiring issue). I didn't buy it new, and haven't really invested that much time into fixing it. I wouldn't say it's a pain in the ass to hook up, but knowing what wires to feed into is what would make it easy & painless (something I took a guess at, with the help of a wiring diagram).

I wanted it on my racebike to help make sure I was in the right gear for cornering, but as it turns out, once you get up to speed on a track, it's pretty easy to figure out how many up-/down-shifts you're going to do, & when you're going to do them.

The only time I could still use one is when I think I accidentally grabbed an extra upshift.

I don't seem to have a problem with counting up and down but that's just me....

There are three kinds of people in this world... those that can count, and those that can't.

    Re: Digital Gear Indicators

I have one on my bike (race purpose). I usually dont count my first lap and it can make a difference. The only places I have found myself using it is down a long straight to make sure I am in 6th and not try to grab another gear.... or when I am coming into a turn and might be in the wrong gear (ie the first lap), I just look down real fast under braking.

Anyway, during a race it really isnt useful, but I am trying ALLLLL kinds of new gearing on different tracks and it is great for learning the new gears to make sure I am where I want to be.
