    - If you own a leather jacket that's a size or two too big, but fits perfectly with the right layers under it...
    - If you've ever ridden with your visor half up so you can see through the snow
    - If you hang off the bike more between November and March than you do between May & August because you really know the true meaning of "cold tires."
    - If the phrase "black ice" immediately makes you shudder and think of riding
    - If you've ever farted at highway speeds just to keep warm

    Pulled over to "de-ice"
Are the only rider on the road in your county/state/country
Wear cramp-ons so you don't fall over at lights
Rack up up more miles from November thru April than most riders do the entire year.
Have pulled a truck out of a snowbank, on your KLR.

    - thought about the possibility of rigging up a heated seat
    - installed hand guards on an SV to compliment the heated grips
    - it's time for the Childrens Hospital Toy run and you shovel a path from the garage to get to the street, and rode along the sidewalk a bit just because it was free of ice.

If you think a wind chill of -84 "isn't bad"
If you have had to park your bike on the flat part of the lot so it wouldn't slide out of the parking space
If you've had a plow driver give you the thumbs up....and then shake their head

If this picture looks pefectly normal to you, and you have in your garage an old tire, a box of screws, and a power screwdriver.

And instead of thinking "this guy's crazy!", you are thinking.. this could be worth trying.

Nice pic. Last year at this time, Denver had already had 17 plus inches of snow. I vote for Indian Summer all season long.

... You've had to do a short burn out to break the ice off your chain.
... You've had to stop the bike by digging your heels into the snow/ice covered road.
... You've blared your horn rolling through an intersection because you couldn't stop.... and those who were stopped flashed their lights at you, honked back, and threw thumbs out into the frigid air.
... 4 inches of clear asphalt is all you need.
... You've passed a tourist skier, at 35mph in a 55, from Texas, with the tail WAY out....

...you've passed a car as it spun off the road and into the ditch.

(I'm usually the first to stop and help, but REALLY, what could I have done? They weren't injured and I was happy to still be upright.)

F* me, that looks like a complete blast.

If only I'd kept my ex-race/ex-track-whore/ex-daily '99 F4 she coulda become the Snow Whore...ugh...man...wonder if my friend would part with his "project" Shitacane (beater Hurricane that still doesn't run) for my winter fun?

Still, I'm betting those "studs" wouldn't work all that well on our snow/ice/pavement winter mix

... You've laughed in your helmet when you realized that you were warm and cozy when you DEFINITELY shouldn't be.

I've ridden in worse....I drove home last night because of the season opening performance of Idiots on Ice™, and we're closed today, but it ain't all that bad out. Heck it was over 25 degrees at 5:30 this morning. If the weather continues pretty much as I expect, I'll probably ride home Thursday night and ride the rest of the week...

I guess I'm a winter rider, then. Heated gear, baby.

It wasn't the cold, I was more worried about ice being on the roads...and then after I got out of my neighborhood, I realized that I woulda been fine

Yeah, when I saw that the puddles in the neighborhood weren't frozen, I knew I'd be ok.

I had almost 4" of snow on the car and 1-2" on the driveway (where it stuck, ice everywhere else). It was 27 on my way to work this morning. A lot of ice on Tower, spots of ice in the parking lot at work...

    I drove today.
Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

Absolutely... I was more fearful of hitting a rabbit on my way out of the neighborhood than the ice.
