Ratthapark Wilairot in Critical Condition after Fatal Road Crash

Bad news from Thailand is that popular Moto2 rider, Ratthapark Wilairot, is in the intensive care unit of Bangkok’s Bumrungrat Hospital after the motorcycle on which he was a passenger crashed at around 3:00am in his home province of Chonburi. His friend, who was riding the motorcycle, was killed. Ratthapark was unconscious at the scene of the accident and taken to Chonburi hospital before being transferred to Bangkok.

Latest reports, from a Thai friend, translator Phakarat Chirenuwat, are that Ratthapark is awake and able to speak. Doctors at Bumrungrat say they will issue a statement tomorrow (Tuesday).

It has been a tragic few days for the family, with Ratthapark’s father having passed away from cancer last week.
