    Daytona 200/SBK

What did you guys think of that 200? Ya know, Part 1 at noon and Part 2 at 10pm. Crazy! That was the whackiest 200 I ever saw.

Just got done with the Pro Superbike races. Much smoother.

I was getting bored with it, but glad I watched it all the way to the end. One of the wildest endings I have seen.

Read through the speed channel hate and you'll get the main feeling...

The race was a shadow of it's former self. While it certainly had some entertaining moments, it just doesn't have the grandeur it once did.

Man lots of people have been trashing the Daytona 200 but I think it was pretty damn amazing. Sure the red flag thing sucked but it was done in the name of rider safety. I'm glad I tuned back in at 10pm to catch the end. Plus, the delay allowed us to see lots of interviews, including our own Ricky Orlando! Great race, IMO.

Until the haters create and successfully run their own national/international race series, I don't take much stock their opinions...

It just felt weird to see Zemke on a Yamaha...

I keep thinking that he needs to be on a red Honda CBR... Though he is obviously good on anything he rides!

I only watched the very end of the race, which was insane... Hope to 'obtain' the race soon so I can watch the whole thing.

I do miss the old 200 on SBK machinery, but I still enjoy the DSB series. Last year it was quite fun to watch Herrin, Eslick and Martinez go at it. This year, Herrin, Eslick, Zemke, Westby, West, DiSalvo, Jacobsen, Beach are going to make it even more fun to watch.

    Re: Daytona 200/SBK

The 200 was made a shadow of it's former grand self when, as Mladin put it, they made it a "minibike race". Essentially, they took the motorcycling equivalent of the Daytona 500 and made it a "legends car" race. Disgraceful. I watched the first one, and have never watched one since. Then, when the GAYtona Motor Group team up with the AMA and completed screwing up the series, I stopped watching any of the races. Sad, because I'd been following them and going to Lagunaa Seca, Willow Springs, and Mid-Ohio for the races since the early '80's. Now, I could give a shit.

They need to adopt the WSB rules completely, with the only possible exception being the tire manufacturer. This would allow for cheaper bikes (higher-volume standardized parts are cheaper), more readily-available knowledge (and should tighten up the racing) and allow more riders to be wildcards.

Used to be so much better. But lets also not forget, I think a lot of people began to lose interest when Mladin had his 10 year run (or whatever it was). It sort of got old watching everyone race for 2nd. Since then, other factors had made it ho-hum overall.
