So the fair tax calculator on that site which I'm guessing is supposed to show you all the money you'd be saving with a fair tax is kinda funny.
Mine shows things like:
Current purchasing power: 80.58%
Current Taxes: 16.31%
Fairtax purchasing power: 76.16%
FairTax Taxes: 19.99%
and I love the side bar:
negative 5% MORE spendable income
negative $2000 MORE purchasing power
negative $2000 LESS federal taxes
LOL
Maybe instead of using their calculator as propaganda they should just have it give factual answers and let you decide if it's better or worse than current. Or at least make it so negative numbers just show up as zeros.
Ooops

I actually like that they are honest about it. I too would pay a bit more. The biggest pluses to the FT in my mind are the simplification of the taxation system and the resulting reduction in the ability of the politicians to use the tax code to pursue their moral agendas via government power.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
