I have nothing to contribute to the actual discussion (especially since this is a laptop that's being purchased)...but since there seems to be a few fellow computer geeks here, I just thought I'd leave this here for your viewing pleasure. Pics of my recent build:

so a buddy of mine can download games and software for free. i would askhim to teach me but he stinks. literally stinks. i cant stand the smell of him. can anyone get me up to speed on how to do this? when i get my computer in wi would like to get it up to speed with some photoshop and what not.

Its not too bad to learn Rooster. Best way would be to google search "How to torrent", the lifehacker link seems pretty straightforward.

After that when actually downloading, be sure to check ratings and comments before grabbing anything. If you want I can get you an invite to Demonoid, which is fairly reliable for downloading torrents. If you want that or any other instructions, send me a pm. Or a text even.

Demonoid is worthless. 90% of their torrents still point at public tackers.

I use the pirate bay and utorrent for movies and music. That's pretty easy to do. I hear that if you download a game or software wrong the actual company will get ya. Lol. Can't have that happening.

I've never had a problem with ASUS. Are you running water or air d3s?

I've had endless problems with ASUS boards. Then I found out it wasn't an ASUS board problem. It was the combo of ASUS board with piece of fucking shit nvidia chipsets (i.e. i680 chipset). After moving away from their nvidia chipset boards, I've never again had a problem with ASUS boards.
