    Holy fawk christ!

Anyone have a GSXR1000 with a good frame and engine so I can build one of these?!?!

Why not!!! Some people like to tinker, and take a few wrecked bikes and build a complete bike that is totally different *shrug*

Its not practical here in CO with the huge rocks we have...that exhaust be toast pretty quick. But even so, it looks like a hoot to me...and believe it or not I was very close to taking my 2001 FZ1 and tossing knobbies on it....If it would not of sold I would have...and I was planing to take it out on the trails...nothing like a 550lbs bike on some ATV trails...hahahaha

    And it's not a 1000, the old school air-cooled GSXR's were either 750's or 1100's

im all for the "why not"... i was seeking a more practical answer because it piqued my interest. I couldnt do the rearsets on trails, it'd kill my knees.... lol

Thought maybe id get an answer like "1/4 mile dirt dragbike" or something...

Looks like a radiator on the front there and that article he posted does say its a 1000. I'm new though, so I may be wrong.

I'd WAY rather have that than a GS-series Beemah (rode one, hated it). WAY faster, more reliable, probably 75 lbs lighter, and it doesn't have those ridiculous cylinder heads jutting out there waiting to snag on a rock.
You could easily make a different pipe or better yet, a sturdy aluminum skidplate to protect everything. I saw a pic of a guy that did it with an '01 gixxer 1000 motor. Looked SCARY fast.

I think that kind of stuff is cool as hell. Not the thing for tight technical rutted single-track, but it'd be a pretty damn good adventure-bike, better than the GS or Ducati, if not as dirtworthy as a KTM 950 Adventure.

Gekko is right, although they made an air/oil cooler 600 as well if I remember right. That looks like an 1100 motor to me from the side cases (I had an '86 for almost 17 years).

Yeah, I see that, too. Based on the fittings on the lines leading to it I think it's an oil cooler, though. Plus, the cylinder bank has cooling fins on it, and the overall "look" of the motor and carbs looks like early 90's technology. The 1000's were started in 2001 to compete with the R1, and were all water cooled. I *think* they (1000's) were injected from the start as well?

    Re: Holy fawk christ!

Glenn, you are correct on all counts. The engine in the picture is an air/oil cooled 1100 of the same vintage as the frame. The first 1000 in 2001 was injected plus the throttle bodies were a downdraft design with the airbox on top.

That bike kind of reminds me of the Team Hurricane bikes from Winners take all. Would post a pic but for the life of me can't find one of the bikes. Only the back of Bad Billy.

    Re: Holy fawk christ!

That's an early (86 or 87) GSXR750 frame, no clue what the engine is, other than an air/oil cooled 750 or 1100. The 600s were all water coolers (92-93) in a similar frame, the 750 got water cooling in the US in 93.
