Good shop to take an Aprilia?

Looking to purchase an Aprilia.. was going to have the gentleman meet me tomorrow at a shop in Denver Metro area to have it looked at to see if anything is wrong or needs to be fixed on it. Anyone know of a good shop that can look at it and is open tomorrow?

    Rfranks,

I called Supertune, going to have them take a look at it tomorrow. Said a valve job would be about 270 and a full tune would be 5-600 dollars.

Yeah old thread, but I have to laugh. If a shop thinks they can do a valve job on a v-twin, that you have to pull the engine out, and pull the cylinders off, before you can pull the heads to do the valve job, go for it! You might get a motor in a box to put back together as I did once

    Adjusting valves sure....

Because they only charge $270 to R&R an RSV motor, pull the cylinders then heads and do a valve job Jim! Keep up!

Cool story. Have a friend with gsxxr 600 5k on kid didn't even know u had to tighten the chain (it was way loose) since I was at work couldn't help him I told him to take it over to super tunes have them do it really fast. Mike over there (owner) ended up doing it for him but took the time to show him how to do and how to keep it clean and so on.

Tightening a chain is a little different than a valve job on an Aprilia.

(And I am not slamming Mike @ Supertune)

Did this happen to you at supertune?

Re: Good shop to take an Aprilia

Not at all, I just worked for Aprilia USA, developed the big bore kit for the RSV, and built a couple of Aprilia Magazine bikes so I know excatly what is invloved in doing a valve job. Adjusting the valve clearances is pretty simple if you know what you are doing. Well checking the clearances is simple, adjusting them involves a lot more work. The motor in a box was at another time and had nothing to do with Supertune, it was just funny how the entire thing came about, and no I wont mention names

    Crikey!
That Tuono was badass, started off as a crashed Demo bike from the Aprilia USA Demo program I used to manage. Some dude in California they it down into a dry creek, had fun building it on the road where I would get parts delivered to the shops I was visiting, the bike did the IMS tour for a while to. http://www2.2wf.com/index.php/bikete...cell-batteries

Back to this thread, personally I would take an Aprilia to an Aprilia shop, like Erico or Fay Myers. I worked out back at Fay Myers last year and the Aprilia guys they have in the service dept are awesome, you might find somewhere 'cheaper' to get work done but in my experience with Italian bikes you really do get what you pay for with service work.

So if you lived or worked up in Boulder and had the new Aprilia Tuono V4R(say you're a time traveler ), would you service it at Fay or Erico?

    Fay.

Not only are the techs better, half the time they're fixing mistakes Erico made in the first place.

While I'm not a big fan of Fay, to their credit when I was pricing some work on the Duc, they flat out told me they were not a good shop for Ducati service. I can respect that instead of just trying to get my money.
