    Antigravity Batteries

More lithium iron lightweight batteries. Their 8 cell is 240 CCA at 1.5 lbs for $200. The 12 cell is 360 CCA at 2.3 lbs for $249. Pricey for sure.....but I want one, or two.

    Re: Antigravity Batteries

I bought two Shorai Power LFE batts this spring for the racebike and couldn't be happier. I had already put a #5 battery in the racebike (same size a yamaha zuma uses) to save weight and that was working well.

The Shorai is the equivelent of a #9 in terms of CCA, but weighs less than 1/2 of what the #5 weighs.

Totally awesome - would buy again in a heartbeat!

    Re: Antigravity Batteries

To compare, the Shorai LFX14L2-BS12 (for my FZR) is 210 CCA, 1.6 lbs and is $154. The standard battery is 165 CCA, 8.3 lbs and cost around $50. It's not enough CCA when the bike is cold and I have to use a battery boost when she's been sitting for a week or longer.

The Shorai LFX14A2-BS12 (for my DRZ) is 210 CCA, 1.6 lbs and also $154. They also have a 135 CCA 1.3 lbs for my DRZ for $110. The standard battery 85 CCA, 5.4 lbs and was around $80. She always starts easily even with the 85 CCA, but the battery is located high up by the rear fender....so weight is my primary concern. CCA is primary for my FZR.

    Re: Antigravity Batteries

I've used Optima batteries in my cars before with good results (power-wise, if not any loighter), so I'm wondering when they'll start making bike batteries. Or, maybe they do, but I'm just not aware of them.

Optima does make moto batteries but they are not any lighter than a std battery.

Ahhh, I thought they might. If it was a racebike, I'd for sure use one. For a streetbike? I'll skip a cheesburger or 2 (but no more than 2) and save over $75 on the battery.
