Just looked at the new six-cylinder BMWs

I just checked out the new K1600GT at Denver BMW on Havana. They had three in the showroom - all sold. However, they do have a demo model available for test rides.

I don't know if I'd spend $21K on one, but they are pretty impressive.

If I was in the market for a full sized tourer, this would definitely be on the top of the list. Size, amenities, range, performance... puts the wing so shame.

I think it beats any other full sized touring bike in the looks department.

^^ I don't think BMW is trying to steal people away from the ST community. I think they are targeting people who want more comfort and capacity then your average ST can provide. I'm with you, if I didn't have my Strada, I'd definitely go the sport touring route. I don't need that big of a bike.

However, if I were looking for a highway crunching comfort touring bike, I think the beamer's a solid bet.

I agree but I hope they aren't going after Da Wing! That thing has won best full touring for like 11 years straight. It just has too many gadgets! It seems BWM is going towards a new category like High Performance Tourers because those numbers they are putting out with something that has hard bags is insane. Targeting the C14 maybe? Liked the C14 until I saddled it and rocked it off the side stand, yea! Drop that and better have someone with you to pick it up.

Actually, the BMW R1200RT has beaten the GL1800 in Cycle World's Touring Bike of the year. Full amenities, coverage, and like 350lbs less weight! The RT balancing act has also garnered it Sport Tourer of the year as well. (Weighs 100lbs less than the C14). Quite a special bike.

As for the new BM... will give it a good look in a year or two.

Someone converted my bike on the owners forum into an RT. I don't know why the hell you would but whatever.

The noise the new 1600 makes is out of this world. I have no desire to own one but good god that would be an awesome engine in a smaller bike.
