Knox biomechs FTW. Although the icon 3/4 gloves are pretty nice. Gonna have to peep me some of those for summer.

I'll differ a bit from the consensus. If I'm putting around town, I'll wear shorties. If I'm doing any riding above city speeds, I'm in gauntlets.

I only wear gauntlets; my hands are too important to risk. I did, however, think that my Icon Timax's were too hot on some days, so I bought one of these and put some holes between the fingers. Then I went to town on my jacket and pants, too.

    HELD FTW.

I like my GP Tech's and my Timax's, but my brother has a pair of HELD's and there is no denying that they are the shiznit as far as comfort goes.

Gauntlets always. Always have, always will. I'm on my second pair of A-Stars GP-Pro, and love 'em.

Always. My Joe Rocket race gloves have air scoops that keep my hands quite cool, and I generally use them for street riding in summertime as well (I have goretex insulated gauntlet gloves for winter).

I ordered some sweet Held Slide Comps that are a 3/4' length version of their high end ti race glove thinking their sizing would be spot on since they had half sizes but when I got them they fit terrible. The palm and back of the hand was pretty snug and reasonable but the fingers were all too long and the thumb had a good extra inch of material. When I tried riding with them the Titanium knuckle protector dug into my knuckles too. I was pretty bummed about the whole thing.

After wrecking and not being able to lift weights or do anything meaningful with my upper body due to wrist injuries for two months afterwards, I now regularly wear gauntlet gloves with wrist protection, and I recommend that you do too, because wrist injuries suck.

Losing the use of your hands due to injury would be terrible. I always wear gauntlet gloves because you never know when something is going to go wrong.

Re: Who Wears Gauntlet Gloves Full Time

Well I finally found some gloves that fit "like a glove". I am up in Seattle visiting a friend and hit up a small leather shop called Insurrection Racing. They do racing suites, jackets, and have a line of gloves. I went with the street gloves that have a 3/4 cuff. They have a lot of perforation, external stitching, and look like they will provide decent protection. Their race gauntlet gloves looked really nice but they were double the price of the street gloves and couldn't justify spending the extra at this point. I think these will do for now and I am pleased I finally found something that fits.

I feel a little guilty about not getting a full on race glove, but I think these will do the trick for now. I really appreciate everyone chiming in, I was ready to buy some shorties prior.

Yeah, dude. Another one here for Held gauntlets. Mine are a couple years old and they keep getting better. 'Roo palms are nice, too.

I know you just bought a pair, but you should still consider dropping $100 on a decent pair of gloves. The gloves below retail around $60 I think. How much would you pay not to have this happen to you?

    ^^^ OUCH!!!

I wear full gauntlet gloves all the time. To the store, work, twisties always. It may be warm at first but you get used to them and they are not really that bad. Better for a little discomfort than hamburger hands.

Damn that looks painful. Did those have kevlar palms by chance? They look like Astar SMX gloves? The first pair I purchased were the SMX Air' and were made very similar to my mountain bike gloves which kind of sketched me out.

^^They are. I went down with my EX500 4 years ago wearing those gloves and the palms blew out at exactly the same spots as JBNWC's. Those gloves last about as jeans down when skittering down the pavement sans bike.

I have several pairs of used up, cheap as in <$100 gauntlets that I have slid across the pavement with and have yet to seriously or even slightly hurt a hand, but this is not the first time I have seen this.
