    Dirt roads here I come

The adventure bug got me a few weeks ago when Rybo put up his DR up for sale. This weekend I ended up getting a BMW F650GS. It was way over in Grand Junction so after camping all weekend in Fairplay we headed further west and went to take a look. I pulled up to a very hot sunny day, and the bike was parked out front. After taking a ride around the neighborhood i fell in love with it, and got it. It had something strange/broken in the throttle linkage that the owner only knew her husband was "messing with", and the idle was set too low. Other than that loved it. Drove it all the way back and it just cruised fine over some of the passes on I-70. For a single cyl thumper the ride was pretty decent. Made it home without incident. This morning found there the throttle was being pinched, and adjusted the idle and it's even happier. I'll be looking to add some panniers real soon.

    Looks good man!

Now that you're a beemer owner, don't forget to save up for a latte maker, bright yellow Tourtech gear, at least three copies of Long Way Round and a flip-up helmet.

KingNothing took his VStrom and I took my Strada out in the dirt for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Your explanation is completely accurate. We didn't go very far or very fast but we had an absolute blast!

    Congrats on the new ride!

Working on it all as we speak. The only problem is that when I ride with my pinkies up you can't see it due to the brush guards.

Also I will have to remember when I'm on the Beemer so as not to wave to other motorcycles to keep the illusion up.

I don't own a beemer, but this hits too close to home!
-chocolate covered espresso beans in the tank bag work?
-no bright yellow, just grey textile
-only one copy of LWR (but it is a box set w/ Road to Dakar and LWD)
-I just bought a modular helmet and hooked up the bluetooth

I went to the Dunlop version of that Tourance shown on the Beemer. As much pavement as I have to ride to get to dirt, they're treating me well and I'm very happy. The pavement ride is much smoother and while I might sacrifice some claw action with a good dirt tire once in a while - you aren't usually getting too carried away with the heavy bikes anyway.

I'm hoping to run out on some dirt after work tonight west of foco

I was up Bunce School Rd Saturday with an ADVrider and the gate was closed half way through. The ADVrider went back Sunday and the gate was open. Figured I'll go check Old Flowers and see if I can make it back over Penoch Pass.

My KTM always seems to be the official beer transport bike. Link I have a few more pics of beer being strapped down to my bike too.

We need to fill those hard cases with ice and beer next time! I'm happy I didn't buy side racks now
