I saw an Asphalt and Rubber comparison of lap times of SBK vs. the AMA Superbikes at Miller over Memorial Day. I thought that was pretty interesting and I got to wondering about SBK vs. Moto GP. It's not as good of a comparison as the A&R comparison at Miller (Same track, same weekend, same weather), but after a bit of digging, I found a couple of comparisons at the UK Silverstone Circuit.

Casey Stoner, qualified this weekend at Silverstone 2:02.020 on his Repsol Honda.

Cal Crutchlow set a SBK lap record at Silverstone in July 2010 on a Yamaha R1 with a time of 2:05.259

The comparison chart compiled by A&R is as follows:

I highlighted the first Americans on the list. I wonder how well some of our top riders in the US, like Josh Hayes, would do head to head with say, Casey Stoner and Carlos Checa, if they all were on the same production bike. I'd pay to watch. Too bad it will always remain speculation.
