    My adventure

I posted this on TRAT so figured I would post it here...

So I recently sold my S3 thinking I could live without a bike. I was wrong again like usual. So I then sold my project MK2 Jetta and used the cash to buy a Bonneville. I actually was going to settle for a Superhawk until I found this bonnie on ebay. After talking with the owner I knew I wanted it...bad. The bike was located in Albuquerque, NM. So I booked a flight to New Mexico and planned on flying out and riding it back to Denver. Roughly 500 miles going the back highways.

The plane I was on was a Turbo prop so apparently at DIA regional carriers are hidden in hallways at the end of normal terminals...

But it was a pretty sweet plane, Bombardier Q400 I think...
    (cowboy hat is NOT me)

Flew over the exact area I would be riding back through. You can see Great Sand Dunes National park at the top of the pic...

    More dunes...

Picked the bike up at the airport. Seller was super nice and I was on my way!

Rode from there to Santa Fe, then headed north on 285. Pretty area but lots of the towns are turning into ghost towns. This pic is from just north of Espanola, NM.

Then meet my sister on her Nightster in Poncha Springs, CO. Super good mexican food at a little restaraunt there.
(this pic is actually in Fairplay where I got questioned again from an "old timer" reliving his youth)

Headed north through the hills but was unfortunately stuck in traffic a lot of it. Next time I would take even more remote roads than 285.

Home at last and very very tired....

Bike was purchased for $3500 but has 24k on it (2003). But the more I get into the bike, the more mods and things I find on it. I LOVE the bike to death!

Ha didnt mean that they are bad bikes, just in my price range it was about all I could find. I just dont completely LOVE them (though I do love the sound).

I know a bonnie isnt everyones cup of tea here but I like sport classics.

    Awesome!

When I bought my KTM, I flew to Phoenix and rode it home. 1000 miles is the best way to get to know a new bike!

    Re: My adventure

I think I have a set of pipes layin around my parents house. SouthBay reverse cones. I got the first set they made and they missed a weld. Would need to be fixed before you'd be able to throw em on. They sent me another set and never asked for the other ones back so they're just sitting. Interested?

Look like this. There was an issue of CycleWorld a few years back with the owner and this bike. Good article.

Oh and if you're lookin for performance mods for it, definately check out SouthBay. They've been builing the new Bonnie's since they came out.
