Thank you for the reminder. I was just wondering this morning when this is going down.

Want to meet up on Fri? Possibly in connection with a bike night?
What would be a good location?

For Friday, I could meet you at Bijou St & Tejon St. I believe that's where the Ducati Spider Grips team will be parked. Not sure on time yet, but I'll text you.

If they're doing it again, you and I need to check out the Firefighter Chili Cookoff that's down by Colorado Ave & Tejon.

I might be heading down on Sunday to watch the race. Which are the best spots to watch?

witchers cove iirc. its right above a good set of switch backs and a long stretch with a drive at high speeds. but the drawback is your so far up traffic is a pain down...
bikefest should be snazee, been seeing alot more bikes out this year already.

I haven't watched the hillclimb. I was told folks camp out overnight for the really good spots?! I found an interesting posting here: http://hillclimbracing.yuku.com/repl...to-video-spots by WRXedUSA:

    1. Move around. There is often enough "down time" between classes and cars where you can move up and down a area to get a different angle.
    2. Pack light, and bring enough food and water for breakfast, lunch and maybe dinner. There are no concessions. Bring a small AM/FM radio so you know what's coming up. Sunscreen, a poncho, light jacket, light gloves, trash bag for your trash and sunglasses are a must. There are enough rocks to sit on, so forget about a chair.
    3. I've been at Glen Cove, Georges Corner, Gilly's Corner, Brown Bush, Halfway, Gayler's Straights, Horseshoe in the past. We are liking Ski Area because of ease of parking.
    4. Look at a full length video http://youtu.be/G2y3OFf0ArU and compare it with the map to see what works best. http://director.usacracing.com/ppihc/files/pdfs/map.pdf
    5. Like Mike says, Engineers Corner. Lots of vehicles get catapulted into the trees there. If you want to see "action", you'll find it.
    6. Keep in mind, the higher you go up, the less cars you will see because of breakdowns.
    7. I would say you could get some real breathtaking shots if you park at Glen Cove and hike from George's Corner to the Tree Line at Elk Park. (Around 6:15 in the Tajima vid)
    8. I don't believe they allow anyone north of Bottomless Pit.

Don't quote me on this, but I seem to remember last year it was $5 cash all-you-can-eat firefighters... oops, I meant, bowls of chili.

Hoping it's the same for this Friday.

Either way, bring cash if you want to try some yummy hotness! (no pun intended )

Dollar, Dollar, bills y'all. Wait it is a family event Rabea, don't be getting to excited. Take pictures.

I'll try to take pics of Friday evening's FanFest, chili and all.

However, since Ninja2 and I will be out of town for Sunday's BikeFest AND Hillclimb race, someone else should take pics that day (the Corona Bikini contest will be going on at 5:45PM Sunday downtown).

Thanks Brat and Ninja2! Excellent info. I'm trying to get my buddy to go down with me, but it depends on how successful he is at getting his gear ready for the Alaska trip. We'll see. I always wanted to go and this is the one year I don't have an excuse not to. I suppose I'd just drive the truck up and park somewhere near Engineers Corner? Surely there is designated parking, right?

Dave, if you stay for the FanFest this evening, let me know and you'll have a place to crash. I will be there tonight, but probably not right at 5PM.

Ugh, it's soooo Friday. My mind is not at work... It's dwelling on the nice weather outside and on tonight's fun-ness.
