    Feeler! CSC Durango 2011

    http://mapq.st/pKbT0F

This is a 900 mile, two day ride through the San Juan Mountains.

Southies meet in Colorado Springs (Acorn).
Northies meet in the Morrison Conico (MoCo).

Both groups meet for breakfast and briefing in Buena Vista, CO. I'll update this thread as plans become solidified.

    CSC History:

In 2007 about a dozen CSC members did this trip.

The 07 Durango trip was and has remained one of my most memorable rides and I'd love to repeat it. The route takes us through the incredible San Juan mountains and over several continental divide passes.

I'm in the planning stages right now and I could use some help with the logistics and planning. Please reply here or PM me if you're interested in helping.

Tentative date is Sept 10th and 11th.

Since this is a two-day trip, we'll be staying at a hotel in Durango. Last time it was the Iron Horse Inn. It's cheap and comfortable "enough" but I don't think everyone liked it. Luckily, Durango offers several lodging options. For example we can get a two (2) bedroom condo at Purgatory Village Condos and Hotel for around $240 per 2-bedroom condo.

The website claims this sleeps 6 but I'm not sure if that means everybody gets their own bed. snuggling optional

Last time we had a dozen people so I would assume get 2 condos. This comes out to an average cost of $40 per person. I would, however budget $60-70 just in case we don't have an optimal number of people.

Between fuel, lodging and meals I would estimate on the high side this trip will cost $200 per participant (assuming no one is riding 2 up - in that case your fuel cost will be less).

If you're interested in going please reply here.

I need to get a approximate head count. If this is a go, we'll need to arrange some sort of group payment (PayPal?) and book the hotel as soon as possible.

Unwarranted comment as I dont think I can go:

I go to Durango every year. Main Street bars are great fun. Purgatory is decently far from that. Might be best to hole up in the main area to be able to have drinks and grub and walk. Depends on the intentions of the journey and ability to control oneself for the route home though!

Possible for Aug 20/21; out for 13/14. Also, the 14th is the CSC picnic.
