Watched it, I didn't realize he died... I was expecting a living legend sort of story.

I don't think this is a spoiler, but his fatal crash was very abrupt strange.
While I've not seen it, I think that's the point, it was an abrupt end to an otherwise brilliant racing career, and the end of a fairly amazing person's life.
When he died it reverberated around the world, fans were weeping in Japan, in Brazil, it was a shock to everyone--so, if the film captured that, then good for it.
