Thumbs down Dick @ Performance Cycle

Called this morning to check availability on stuff they had on their site...

Me: Hello, do you have Vesrah brake pads in stock?
Dick: No we don't, we'd have to order them.

Me: Oh okay, I was looking to get something soon so...
Dick: They're in our Denver warehouse, is one day not soon enough?

Me: Oh I didn't know that, that's fine. Your site says its $42.
Dick: What kind of bike you got?

    Me: 08 6R.
Dick: I said what kind of bike you got?

    Me: 2008 ZX6R.
Dick: Okay. (hold for 10 mins)

Dick: I don't know what you were looking at, but the front pads are $80 each.
Me: Each? It's $80 for one single pad?

Dick: No I didn't say each.
Me: So it's $80 for a set then?

Dick: It's not a set. Your bike has two calipers in the front right? You know what calipers are? It's $80 for each caliper.
Me: Yeah okay. Well your site still shows $42.

Dick: Dude they're $80 per caliper, do you really neeeeed Vesrah for your bike? We keep (insert generic brand here) pads in stock and they're $60 each.
Me: I was told Vesrah were good and I wanted to try them.

Dick: Well for your bike Vesrah will be $180, while (generic brand) is $140 and we keep them in the store.
Me: Oh okay I'll have to think about it.

(Dick hangs up right as I finish the sentence.)

    _______

And no the guy's name actually isn't Dick, he is just a dick. I'm so sick of Performance Cycle's grade C customer service. Every time I go there it's a snooze train waiting for one of the eight people doing nothing behind the counter to help you out - or even just let you pay for the things you got. And every time it's a struggle when you ask for something, like when I went to buy tires they just assumed I wanted them mounted and they asked 20 questions that I found irrelevant, then made me wait ten minutes for some dude, and that's when I figured out they didn't understand "I want to get those tires" as I want to get those tires and get the f--- out of here because I'm in a hurry.

I've spent over $800 there this season alone, but honestly I'd rather wait a week for Rocky Mountain Kawasaki to order my parts/gear than deal with their bullshit anymore. That is all.

May be fun to call and mess with them lol. I like messing with people with horrible customer service.

    $140 for brake pads? What?!

Last set of pads on my DRZ cost me $10 and are better than OEM. Granted they were on clearance and the DRZ only has one caliper. Even the EBC's on the 929 were only ~$40 total if I remember.

    What a shit attitude.

If they are $42 on the site, order them from the site and have them shipped.

Sucks ..... Call the store manager and let him know what up.... He may be able to fix the customer service issues for all of us.
Personally i haven't had any issues with performance, but then again, anyone could insult my intelligence (if any) and i would think they were just joking .....

I'm talking about when you're standing there in front of the counter waiting for someone to make use of their employment and help you. I don't expect people to come find me and see if I need assistance, that's usually annoying in most stores.

I ordered pads form 303 Cycle as they were open today. Yeah they cost a little more than P Cycle, and it'll take three days, but I'd rather not give them anymore of my money.

Are you sure the price you saw was for front pads? The Vesrah VD-434JL that is $41.95 is for the rear; I can't see the VD-444 front pads on their site (which kinda sucks) at all. DennisKirk has them for $84/caliper.

Are you looking for the Vesrah VD-444 SRJL-XX?

    Trackday has them for $295

    Kurvygirl has them for $240

Sportbike trackgear has them for $216

$180 sounds like a hell of a deal to me if it's the same pads?

That's the only compound Vesrah makes for that bike and they list the pads for $280 so $180 sounds like a deal...and not correct either. My pads are VD 9021 and they dont list a price any longer for them but 2 years ago they were $250 per side. Still the best pads I ever ran but not worth $500 so I run Performance Friction now.

Ouch, that's a hit to the pocketbook. Did they at least last you a whole season?

Fwiw, I've had nothing but great customer service experiences in there!

Sure sometimes you have to wait, but if you stop to watch, they are usually helping someone. Looking up parts, helping educate, etc.

Sounds to me like you are the one always in a rush and whe you don't immediately get what you want the other person is the dick!

Looks like you looked up the pads for the wrong end of the bike from the info above. Then got pissed off at Performance when they told you it was going to be more. The guy rightfully offered up another option since you spoke up about the price.

This whole thing sounds a bit like misunderstandings and short responses.

You're an idiot. First of all I didn't say anyone was a dick because I had to wait, I said that's just bad customer service. The guy on the phone was a dick because he was talking down to me like I didn't know what calipers were or that I didn't need performance brake pads because I wasn't a good enough rider.

Also if you look at their site before opening your mouth, the 08 Kawi is listed under 2 sections of Vesrah brake pads. One for "Kawasaki" only lists 07-11 REAR only for $42 and not the front. The other section for all Vesrah pads lists 07-11 pads for $42 also, and doesn't specify wether it's front or back. So from my knowledge all 07-11 ZX6R pads by Vesrah are $42.

    Re: Dick @ Performance Cycle

I got the full set for $190 at 303 Cycle. Just want to try them so I can get the feel for better pads. The OEM pads for my bike are $150 full set so the price difference wasn't that bad.

And on the phone the guy suggested their in-stock brand as well, but he wasn't a dick about it.

Some people just don't understand one bad experience can loose a customer for life over 100 good experiences. I bet if xtreemjeepn called and got talked down to or had a bad experience there he would tell people about it to. Vellos I am not defending the guy at all I think its wrong to have an attitude or bad cust service at any point in time however he may have been having a bad day or just got done with a "real" idiot customer.
