You prove my point right there in your first comment.Sounds to me like you were talking down to the employee of Performance. Treating him like an idiot because YOU had the wrong price, or the website was wrong, etc.
Guy in the store is most likely not the guy doing the website. You can't expect him to be checking it every day for prices.
He was obviously trying to solve YOUR problem by offering options. Making sure you really needed that specific brand for example is good customer service, its not "talking down to you" or somehow implying that you are not a good rider. Its just a simply question, I would expect any GOOD customer service person to ask.
He does not know you. He has to ask questions like this to make sure that you are getting what you need from the store. Since you complained about the price (due to a misunderstanding of what you saw on the site and what he was seeing in the store) His next logical question should be to make sure that is really what you are looking for.
You are obviously too quick to judge a sitution and jump to the conclusion that this guy is somehow trying to pee on your leg.
Honestly, customer service goes both ways. You can't just call up/walk in and be a dick and expect them to treat you like royalty. A little respect can go a long way.
You should read some of your own posts. At least twice you have used the time you had to wait as part of the reason this guy and Performance in general have been Dicks to you.
Was he talking down to you or were you talking down to him? Sounds to me like he was trying to clarify what you were trying to buy and making sure you actually understood needing 2 sets for the front vs. 1. Granted, I'm getting this information from your description of the situation.
Not saying the guy could not have asked the question in a less offensive manner. But your reaction to everything can also drive the way the conversation goes.

Maybe you were actually really polite and clear to the guy on the phone. If that were the case, then he was obviously a dick. Or maybe you came off just like you do in this thread and apparently like you have to some people here in person. Notice a theme here?
I bet you are not man enough to admit you may have contributed to the situation and are at least partially at fault. Instead you will probably just lash out at me for pointing out what is obvious to some others.
