    Re: ride monday?

I suppose it's kind of a crap shoot. Every person that I like riding with, I met through a group CSC ride.

I like riding with 1 other person the best and up to 4 is ideal.

But serious Damir, I had fun riding with you yesterday and today (along with Darth and Geno). Plus Grim thinks the world of you and I think the world of him so there by think the world of you by association!

Does anyone want to give any details on the crash? Perhaps I can learn from it? If I didn't have to work late last night I would have been on the ride today.

    Re: ride monday?

Riding at 100% or beyond skill level for too long (we had been riding for nearly 4 hours straight at that point). That pretty much sums it up.

Well the pace was aggressive so thats why, I've rode with him other times and he keeps whatever pace is being set.

Yea but on the Mt. Evans ride on Sunday i said the pace was going to be slow due to being two up and he kept blasting past me on squaw pass. That right there was enough to irritate me and now hearing that he went down doesn't surprise me therefor in my eyes he is a liability issue and not safe therefore not welcome!

    Re: ride monday?

Kinda saw it coming when he decided to be billy bad ass and pass me on the outside of a turn while hanging completely off the side of his bike like a chimpanzee on a tire swing. Im pretty sure Mauser saw that one.

At that point I backed off and let him and the Chech guys go battle for position. Really weird riding form....kinda the same position Id be in on my dirtbike out in the desert taking a higher speed turn and throttling the piss out of it to break traction and let the rear swing around. (best I can describe it)

I just remember suddenly seeing a dirt cloud appear on the side of a hill about a turn and a half ahead of me. First big left hand uphill turn on the section of re-pave.... beautiful turn but not much bank to it. At least he walked away... well limped.... hes gonna be hurting bad for a long time.

Obviously not. I know my pace isnt what most would consider slow... and pulling screwy passing maneuvers while at that speed isnt what id consider rolling with the pace.... especially next to people you dont know, on a narrow road that for the most part is shitty is pretty silly. No one I know who rides at those speeds with me ever does that.

Edit: Actually... the more I think about it.... the more pissed about it I get.

I understand that, I was all the way in the back so had no idea what was going on up front

Im pretty sure at the beginning of the ride you said to give people room to breath because you dont know what there riding style is. Failure to follow directions and riding 120 with you balls out is what got Doug in the shit hes in!

Also to add to it i fucking told him on Sunday at the base of Mt. Evans YOU DONT PASS THE LEADER!!!

    Re: ride monday?

I'm sure Doug is quite sore right now. I hope he decided to go to the hospital.

From talking with him for a few hours while we waited for the truck I got the impression that he thought he was supposed to be competing for the leader position (like this was a friend race).

I didn't see much of his riding through out the day because I was riding at my own pace with my super friends (Damir, Darth and Geno). We were having a great time riding at 70% or less of our ability level.

    Think of it this way.

Riding at 70% leaves you with a 30% margin for error.

Riding at 100% leaves you with a 0% margin for error.

You can only ride at 100% for so long before something gives. The rule that I use is "If I'm not having fun, I'm going too fast."

Doug was riding with a group of faster CSC riders and pushed himself all day to keep up, instead of falling back and riding his own ride. Funny, I seem to recall Ryan giving the "ride your own ride" speech at the very beginning. I guess not everyone was paying attention.

Haha, at least you didn't have to wait until 5 to leave

Instead of taking the fun way home (the way we came and through Deckers) I had to get to I-25 asap and it still took 2 and a half hours.

I sent Grim a txt at 6pm... "Guess where I am at 6:00PM... fucking MOCO"

that fully blows. When we got down to boulder where we were supposed to meet his family, Geno called her up and she was already in Nederland (fast for a pickup). He told her to head north on 119 about 10-15 miles... since she was already so close, I headed home. Guess she went south.

Sorry you sat there all day clovis, I thought everything was worked out so I just headed home.

Yea when I saw drunktank getting passed in his own lane on a blind corner at a pretty good pace I thought to myself yea its time to back off.

    Re: ride monday?

Yeah, must have. After a few hours I rode towards Neder and got cell service about 2 miles from the crash. I pulled over and called her. She said she was back in Neder (she went to Neder, then black hawk and then back to Neder).

She waited for me at a gas station and away we went.

That's very kind of you but no need to make it up

Everyone else was fun to ride with and it was nice to meet Patrick "Bottomless britches" Repsol. Even though he spilled my coffee
