The 749/999 series of bike are some of the most controversial in Ducati history - they were a radical departure in design that left most ducati fans cold.

Aside from that they were really good bikes, and you'd be hard pressed to go wrong in owning one. Currently they can be had for pretty reasonable prices too.

Get one! I love the 999. I never can understand why there were so many haters of this body style. The bike is gorgeous and I've always wanted one. Personally I like the red the best, but it IS a Ducati after all. The black still looks great though.

I had my speed triple at a Patriot Guard event a couple of years ago and some harley RUB was trying to give me shit about my "rice rocket". I informed him that my particular motorcycle ran on fish 'n chips, not rice... And if I needed some newspaper to clean up any dripping vinegar, I'd get it from underneath his HD.

I think he was more pissed that all of his friends were laughing at him for not being able to distinguishing between a british and a japanese bike.

Fay's has a black 999s as well, white "number plates" on the rear section. Very nice. Don't know the price. I was too distracted by the Benelli Tornado Tre, MVs, Desmo, and RC8Rs sitting nearby.
