If Ducati is using an aluminum frame, it's learning the secrets of alloy speed quickly. The Italian media reported Rossi turned a top lap of 1:48.05 Thursday, just seven-tenths behind the top lap turned by Casey Stoner on Honda's 2012 bike during a test in July in the Tuscan hills.
