The U.S. is the only country where steroids is illegal. You can go to any other country and buy steroids over the counter. The problem with the U.S. is they don't do enough research on steroids to actually know the long term effects (if any at all). Just like any other drug, negative and harmful side effects only come when the drug is abused. Also, any negative side effect, (i.e. bitch tits, shrunken scrotum, acne) are all reversable once cycled off....
If any of you haven't seen the documentary yet, Bigger, Stronger, Faster, It's a good good watch and worth the time if you are curious or even "ignorant" on steroids and steroid use. It paints a good picture for both sides of law.
(Disclaimer: I use the word ignorant as a way to describe a "lack of knowledge" and not intend in any way to call someone "stupid" or "dumb" )
I may have to check that documentary out because you are not the only person that has told me to watch it. I have a few friends that I argue with on the safety of steriods (done properly) and they swear the are safe (they are also on them so a bit biased to me). Hell a lot of the UFC fighters like Dan Henderson have even received hormone replacement therapy where they are prescribed steriods to get their natural hormone levels back up from all the training they do. I think the problem is most people do not do them correctly and usually end up not wanting to cycle off of them because they lose gains. Then I see people who want to drink alcohol on steriods which can cause so much damage to the liver/kindeys.
I know my cousin was huge into steriods when we were in high school and that guy was a beast on the football field and the gym. He ended up getting breast cancer at the age of 25 and I have always thought it had to be from that since there really is not a history of male breast cancer in our family, but nobody really knows what caused it.
I have taken pro-hormones (which are basically legal steriods; they become steriods when they process in your body) and my GF swears I was a mean (well meaner) person on them and I do remember getting easily annoyed at people and wanted to fight people all the time. Best gain I ever made and best workouts ever though! Funny thing is I was sold these before I knew what they were and didn't find out they were steriods till I talked to my steriod taking friends! The ones I did were Halotren and got them from the guy at Save on Supplements.
Sad thing is I did love Halotren, but trying to stay a bit safe and stay away from that route again. Like I said in previous posts it gets really discouraging to put in more time in the gym than the guys I know are on them and they make way betterr gains than me. As it is I am a small framed guy and started off at maybe 125 pounds when I started lifting.
Believe me I am not against steriod use, when I give Wicky sh*t it is only because I wanted him to be aware of what harm they "can" do; even if we are talking HGC. Everything, even tylenol, comes with risks, but the more you know about them, the better prepared you may be.
Damn now I want some Halotren!!!!

It's a good documentary. U can watch the whole thing on youtube ( broken into 10 or so parts, but watchable). You're right, the problem is when people try and cycle off and find their gains have went way down. They tend to want to stay on because of that. Actually a lot of bodybuilders use the HCG to help with their gains when cycling off. It helps them in a way of maintiaining what they achieved when "cycled on". I haven't taken steroids before, but I have done HGH which does pretty much the same thing. I'm not against, nor will I judge anyone for using them. I believe it's a decision you shouldn't make without the proper research first.
I had a new experience this morning, and it's something that we've talked about in this thread, fatigue. And it was one of the first times it really effected my performance for this type of workout. Since Angela and I had accidentally slept in yesterday, we did our workout at 6:00pm, right before dinner. And then we did our workout this morning at 5:30am, so we had less than 12 hours to recover. By the end of the warm-up this morning, we both knew it was going to be a long workout. Especially since we had the longest workout on the DVD today, 60 min. We did the whole workout and completed everything, but it wasn't easy. So there are two things I thought of this morning.
1. Focus on your rest as much as you do the workout. As with Bulldog, it's so important. Further, be sure to fuel your body well. We had dinner after working out, but otherwise I didn't eat anything till after my morning workout. I was getting hungry by the end of it. A small dinner is not enough fuel to do two very serious workouts in less than 12 hours.
2. As Nike says, just do it. There were so many times I wanted to stop the video, take more rests and just give myself excuses, but I didn't. And now, I feel good about my decision to push through it. Give yourself motivation, not excuses!
So I'm back at doing Cardio kickboxing 3 x's a week. 4 months after back surgery and I'm bummed at how hard it is to get my endurance back up. This is my 3rd year at this workout and I now know where those 15 pounds went... it was all my muscle mass
This weekend, I added a strictly boxing/cross-fit class in and can barely feel my thighs today.
I'm pretty routine about getting protein within after 1 hour post-workout, but I was told to add glucosamine and condroitin. What type of whey protein do you recommend w/o the bulk you boys are all after?

Well the good thing is muscle has memory so you will gain back the 15 pnds of muscle way faster than it took to get it!

I do the bodybuilding.com gold stack. Multi vitamin, Whey, and Casein for a killer price. Muscle milk does taste better than most, but with the amount I take it's not very economical. And like Nate said, you'll get it back twice as fast as you gained it in the first place. I had shoulder surgery a while back and lost a ton. Gained it all back pretty quick. Almost too quick. I didnt do enough rehab on the shoulder and started putting up too much weight for the shape it was in. Just be sure to take it easy!
I picked up some Whey/Protein powder this weekend and am trying it out as my mid morning snack. I've only been doing it for two days, so I have no real input. i think it's EAS but I'd have to go back and look. It's one that I've heard of though. I've been mixing the powder with skim milk, a banana and some frozen mixed berries. Not bad, but it doesn't fill me up for longer than an hour. I don't get to start eating my salad for another 30 min and am not happy about that...
fyi: I'm not interested in gaining mass at all, I'm just trying to lean out.
I like peanut butter in my shakes.

PFFFT You guys are dumb if you aint drinkin Badger Milk then you aint shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh! I'm on a budget, too, I'll look into that. But I can't put away as much as you do... Well, I CAN, but I'm on a mission to lean down, ie, eat better (and be sure to not drink wine in the eve's after workouts, anymore )
I tried the take it easy approach, raced 3 weeks after surgery, and haven't been good about it since. Weirdly, it was more intimidating getting back into the gym. After physical therapy, I now know what my limits are on pushing the back over the edge again, no twisting, etc... and no more 200+ situps/class!! So, I've asked the trainer to focus on other core exercises.
Ditto, Sean! When I'm hungry from workouts, it's not pretty LOL

Takes a while for the stuff to go bad, so even if you dont use it all up right away, it's still a good deal. Optimum is pretty good too.

Whey throughout the day and the casein at night. I only take 2 multi's a day so that stretches the bottle out a little further too.
I just noticed how much cheaper the womens stack is than the mens...and the only difference in the damn multi's. WTF!
