As Desmo stated earlier - it is only fair that the trainees cover the instructors share so they don't have to pay. If we can get about 15 trainees - thats about $125 each.

Re: CSC Track day at SCR

I could get really interested in this, especially if I could qualify for an MRA race license out of the deal.

Any possibility that could happen? If so then I could probably get 2 or three more on board pretty easy.

I don't think any of the VOLUNTEER instructors are certified to do that, you would need to call Ricky or Mark for that.

That would have to be proposed by the instructors, to the MRA board of directors and more specifically Mark Schellinger (MRA New Rider Director). He ultimately has the final say as to whether the class can count towards new racer licenses. But I can tell you that to qualify, the beginner stuff will basically have to mimic the MRA school in covering the basic drills, as well as classroom stuff (flags, procedures, general knowledge, etc).

Re: CSC Track day at SCR

What are we talking here? A Saturday? A Sunday? or a weekday?

If this was say on a Sunday - all day - non-race day (and for me non-weekend I have my kids) I'd be ABSOLUTELY down for doing something like this... especially if it at least got me ready for the MRA licensing. It'd kick ass if it actually could be counted as MRA licensing instruction... but I bet that'll be a hard sell to the board... other than the fact that more people with MRA licenses means more potential racer pool which means more exciting races... well... in theory.

A weekend is not likely Vance, as all of the race tracks around are booked solid for races on the weekends. I would also have to imagine that getting your license out of the class is not going to happen. Personally, I would suggest going to Mark or Ricky for that as that's something they have been teaching for years. The point of this class would be for improving your skills on the track, racing or not, whereas the racer schools would be to teach you more about racing, flags, practice starts etc.

That's cool... that's what I figured across the board.

If we can plan this out far enough... say maybe for August or even September... then maybe I'll be able to take a day off work - because I have extreme interest in doing something like this. And it'd be a great precursor to the MRA licensing class IMO.

I just want Gene Gene the Dancing Machine to be there instructing too. That's entertainment!

I just talked to Ricky and he said he might be interested in instructing if you're throwing something together. His contact info can be found on his website at rickyorlando.com.

Nice! With that, maybe we could split off the (hopefully) few looking for their MRA license with Ricky at some point to cover the MRA-specifics. And if we can get the MRA board & Mark Schellinger approval, then maybe we can offer a limited number of MRA license-eligible certifications through Ricky.

What is everybody's feeling on how far out we should try to book this. I can call SCR and find out what the availablity is. Hopefully, with enough notice, everyone that is interested can take a day off work to make it.

Would we be getting personal body positioning instructions?

Depending on when this is going to go down, I would be interested in it as well. For me, it will mean probably a day off work, and a day for someone else in my family to watch the little one.

Questions on the MRA license thing: what does this entail? How long is an MRA license good for (how often do you need to re-certify, etc.)?

I would possibly be interested if there was a group with more advanced instruction for existing racers trying to get faster, and there were enough people to get the cost down around a regular track day or pretty close.

So you're saying we're not good enough for you?

We would be splitting up people by skill level, if that's what you're asking.
