Purgatory is outside of town towards Silverton. A good ways outside of town. Not sure what your evening plans are but Durango is a good boozing town on the main drag. If something like that is in the plan, then Purgatory is quite a stumble.

Check the weather report. Cancelled my Durango trip this weekend and going NW instead. Weaher is better up that way.

So you would be going going the reverse route (either way works) of what we did.
And actually, I was thinking I might even just do this in the RAV4 just to see the colors, even if the weather kinda sux. That way, I'd still be nice and dry.
Nope, no real boozing. Wanna stop by Serious Texas BBQ again for some more food, but not much drinking. I'd do that at the hotel room.

Serious TX BBQ was good, we stopped there. We didn't do the side trip you're talking about.
You can probably get a hotel upon arrival, this isn't the peak season for the area.
The leaves will still be there next week and if you go I'll probably go too.
Got my daughter this weekend, but how about next weekend (10/15-10/16)?

We'll see. This coming weekend isn't looking too great (max highs of 55-60 in that area).
Then again it can easily change. Its been almost 80 degrees yesterday and today.
