Re: Occupy Wall Street list of demands - are you serious?

The "proposed list of demands" was posted on a public forum by some guy who is (clearly) bat-shit crazy and most people with at least half a brain disagree with his ridiculousness. So you all can calm down now unless you really have a hard-on for nonsense...

The problem is, that most of the people in the Occupy Wall Street protest have no clue what or why they're protesting, and they will latch on to and promulgate ANY moderately organized agenda, without ever contemplating the ramifications, if their adopted agenda were ever to come about.

And what have you ever seen on CSC that'd imply we (collectively) do not?

I wont get into how insane the whole thing is, but I am surprised that no one brought up the biggest issue with #11 - wiping out all debt. It would be an interesting study to see how many people would come out ahead compared to how many are hurt but that is not the big issue. It would cause the complete collapse of the world banking system!! You don't really think the money in your checking account or CD is just sitting there in a vault somewhere? No, it was LOANED to somebody! Yes, banks have reserves but it is only maybe 10% of deposits and the other 90% has been loaned out

If you haven't figured it out by now, Vellos is an idiot. There, I came right out and said it. Anymore, I lurk more than post and I have noticed that every time Vellos opens his mouth excrement is usually what flows forth.

    Exactly.

You realize money is just a collective fiction based on (essentially) the idea of promissory IOU notes, right?

Unlike a nuclear war, if this somehow happened, the world would be exactly as it is now, the system would obviously be very different, but that's nothing that we haven't seen before--humanity adapts and survives to new situations, and all this would do is change the way the Game of Wealth is played.

Not that I'm for or against it, it's a non-starter since it's a worthless fiction that will never happen. But, the idea that we can't adjust to even radical social change is bullshit. If it were true we'd never have survived to be where we are now...

    Just my Opinion of course...

Demand one: Equalizing tariffs Yes, $20.00 and hour No

Demand two: Can’t be any worse than what we have now, but don’t see it much better ether.

Demand three: Two words on this topic, free market.

Demand four: Change it so people can discharge their student loans in a bankruptcy. Then banks will stop making so many of these bad protected loans and less people will be able to afford the $100,000 needed to get a degree and thus the price of higher education will drop because of less demand to a reasonable price.

Demand five: This will happen whether it’s demanded or not. At a point the price of fossil fuel will be higher than other form of power making them obsolete. Of course that will mean $8.00 gasoline and house power bills of $500 a month before anyone will realize this.

Demand six: A trillion is a bit on the high side, but when some dude in a Chevy can accidently hit a transformer in Arizona and blackout the west coast at a cost around billion or so, rebuilding because cheaper fast.

Demand seven: The plant will be much better served if people would stop having so many children. Less people less impact on the environment, you want to save the planet, use a condom. As far as nuclear power plants, all power generating options need to be on the table. We ran out of time to gently move from one power source to another back in the 70’s.

Demand eight: Can’t legislate the hate in humans hearts, but you sure as hell can make them ashamed to be breathing.

Demand nine: But this would mean Frank would have to lean Spanish to be able to order his burger. And I would never deny Frank the opportunity to expand his horizons.

Demand ten: No not think this is issue.

Demand eleven: It’s call bankruptcy… We have that now.

Demand twelve: Someone must not liked what happened to theirs last time they forgot to pay for that porn site.

Demand thirteen: As long as the Union become non profits and only can run by donations.

Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

I see no problem with this comment. Vellos is simply stating the "list of demands" is one man's opinion and you all are getting too wound up about it. If you can't understand that, you're just as idiotic as the man that posted the list.

As far as I can tell, everyone in America is on edge and like a vial of nitro, ready to go off at the slightest jiggle.

Really? Obviously you don't read enough. Is 'oxymoron' your word of the day?

Which part did you specifically take issue with?

I didn't take issue necessarily...although I think you're suddenly close to joining that "vial of nitro" American archetype.

Just saying, you started off defending Vellos which is noble and all, but then you turn around and use generalizations to say "everyone" is getting too wound up and if anyone doesn't understand that then they're an idiot too. Which, to me, contradicts your closing remark of "fucking relax!". People are expressing their opinions about a controversial subject. Just cuz one guy said Vellos is an idiot doesn't mean the whole thread is dripping with vitriol.

How about they institue mandatory military service at 18

    Elimination of all entitlement programs

Free handjobs or a tax break for the installation of a glory hole in your home

Harsher penalties for distracted drivers who injure/kill motorcyclists

Implement a CAST system (You think peeps have it bad now)

I want to be able to acheive the legal title of LORD, KNIGHT, or LEEROY JENKINS by ruling over my land

^^ To that point, I want to remove the rights of ANY HOA to place a lein on anyones home for any reason. They are not a governance in that way. They should be there for rule enforcement, not property devaluation.

Oh you just wait a page or two.
