Personal insight? From when you worked with him? The part you quoted was from over 20 years ago. That wasn't yesterday.

^ I've heard he was an asshole too....

People do not tend to change, so whether it was 20 years ago (which is nothing) I doubt he changed. Assholes tend to always be assholes, they can never be penises no matter how hard they try.

The most successful are often the most anal and psychotic. Look at Donald Trump.

So what if he was an asshole? So are at least 50% of us in this thread.

Basic fact is that your entire technical world is shaped by the work he led his company to do. Regardless of whether he physically engineered the iPhone himself, he still drove it forward and changed a fair bit of society in the process. He may have been a prick, but I still respect the fact that he did something that altered humanity for the better. Lots of other "just a businessman" people will never achieve that.

I wonder if his headstone will have a Sad Mac engraved on it though...

Re: New iPhone is a Jobs Killer!

See I stopped right there with your post "technical world is shaped by the work he led his company to do."

I would argue, his employees who was hired by his company (typically not even him) were the ones that shaped the technical world. I tend to give credit to where it is do...not to the CEO just because he is the CEO. His company hired some bright people with visions that made Steve Job's very very wealthy. Chances are Steve Job's did not dream up the iPhone, iPad, or even the iPod....it was the research department, marketing department and budget department...Steve just listened to those experts. it all could of been a big flop too...he rolled the dice and went with what experts in his company said and it happen to work out. Those are the true people that shaped the technical world.

With the same thinking I don't always blame CEO's for poor company performance either. It's like blaming a CEO for the job performance of a Janitor...or somehow taking credit for the super clean environment...LOL

The part about arrogant, unforgiving etc. was not 20 years ago.
Do you have any Personal insight to prove he wasn't a asshole or are you just drinking too much of the Apple coolaid?

I think you can see the concensus of most people here. I'll leave it at that.

Or, some people think that this thread is retarded and full of unjustified opinions. Because it's really classy to judge a guy, that no one in this thread actually knew, the day after his death.

    ^^ Agreed

I actually worked WITH Jobs' marketing team as a channel marketing specialist in the mid 1990's as well as with Microsoft, Microprose, Berkley Systems, and a number of now dead companies. I met Jobs 1 time for about an hour.

Now, for the ignorant many, talk about something you know. The shit you are regurgitating based on what you herd on teh webs is getting old.

A person just died. Whether you agree/disagree about his contributions or his assholeness, as Sean states, let's give that person a bit more respect please.

Wow. Just when I thought you had already let us all know how clueless you are, you post this. This is without even going into how awful the grammar is in the above post.

The CEO of Ford does get this kind of attention....He is named Henry Ford! Remember, he revolutionized factory production and how we get from point A to B.
