    Spark Plug Gap Tolerances

I'm changing the spark plugs on my Jeep and was curious as to how much of a gap differential can you get away with before things go bad? I need to be at .040. I've gotten all of the plugs between .042 and .044. Will this cause an issue? Just didn't want to keep prying the metal open and closing it until it snapped. Thanks in advance.

*Most* spark plugs come pre-gapped. That being said, the amount of flexing you're doing won't cause the electrode to break any time soon. Get em right.
