    Maybe.

I'm meeting with the city attorney on Thursday to discuss a plea for my 14 over ticket. Fountain just has a part time DA from Colorado Springs and he's been here for years. In the past he's been willing to work with me on the points so I fairly confident I may be able to get it down to 0 points in exchange for something.

If that happens I'll have 1 point remaining and unfortunately its hard to have fun on a sport bike with only 1 point.

What irks me is my new heads up display for my radar detector (VizAlert V2) never went off. In fact it pretty much never went off through out the whole ride, except in front of those "your speed is xxx" signs.

Funny how we spent most of our time in Arizona and New Mexico yet I didn't see a single cop running speed traps, yet we come back to Colorado and the Colorado Ticket Patrol was everywhere running traps. Then it dawned on me it's the end of the month.

Next time I'll plan this for the first week of a month.

has always been my experience that people with radar detectors are a magnet for speeding tickets. If a guy didn't know better, it's almost like the things have a homing beacon in them attracting cops.

although I'd suspect it's more about the false sense of security.

The ONLY time I ever got a speeding ticket was when I didn't have my radar detector ON. They seem to give some yo-yo's a false sense of security and my responce to that -- too bad -- so sad .

One of those you get what you pay for situations.

That sucks Justin but I know how you ride you get impatient on straights and haul ass where you shouldn't.

Sorry to hear it. Some of the new radar bands your detector will not pick up. Happened to me a couple of times even with my Valentine 1 (by far the best, though pricey, highly recommended). Best of luck! I should probably check on my ticket count before riding season really begins........

Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

The radar detector went off, it was the heads up display that didn't.

When I saw the Trooper my detector was going crazy but no blinking lights in my helmet.

    It's the VizAlert V2 if you're curious.

Radar detector is a Escort 8500 x50 since apparently my 9500xi isn't compatable with the V2. I picked up the 8500 specifically for this trip =/

I'm going to install a screamer siren instead and see if I can find some flashing lights that go on the bike, anything to get my attention.

Grim is right, I do get impatient on the straights. In this case there was a major accident after Woodland Park on Hwy 24 and the police had Hwy 24 blocked and sent me down a detour road that turned to dirt. Added a lot of time and made me late to the meet up in Buena Vista.

I have to go to Fairplay for the summons (ugh...) so I'm going to file a motion to request a change of venue to Colorado Springs. There is only 1 DA that deals with tickets in Fairplay (I had him when I got my 40 four years ago) and he won't budge on anything.

Seriously, time to learn why so many people love dual sport riding, or get you craving for speed out at the track.

Just think of the bikes you could own if you weren't paying for so many awards

Dual sport is very appealing. If money was no object I'd buy a nice GS and tour the world.

And you'd still be able to get ticketed on the way to all the back roads since most DS bikes can easily do 85 in a 55.

I feel your pain, but any bike can get you a ticket unless you're on the track or trail, so not sure a DS would solve the problem.

You live in CO! Isn't this the DS capital of the world? My next bike will have to be a DRZ400 with a big ol' gas tank.

Plus, a big DS can still have plenty of fun in the twisties. I did McClure pass this weekend and may have accidentally gone over the posted speed limit once or twice. As with (almost) every situation, it's the rider, not the bike.

well no shit? He could still get busted for doing 45 in a 25mph school zone if he's so inclined as well.

but not nearly as easily as what he's riding now.

It would be easier to to get another reckless ticket once he discovers how much easier it is to do a wheelie

Sorry to hear. And not to be a Debbie Downer but I have never heard good things when Fairplay and Speeding Ticket were in the same sentence.

Sell that FZ and dualsport up!

for anybody that missed this trip and would still like to do it let me know. I'm going to be leaving somewhere around the 22nd or 23rd of this month. it's short notice but i'm going with or without somebody, would be allot better of a trip if i had someone to go with.

I'd be game but that's around my birthday (24th) and I just got back from a long trip. Give me some more notice and I'm in!

Thumbs up Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

I'd go again but don't have enough seniority at this time, too short of a notice. It's a killer ride, I'm absolutely doing it again next spring as I was a bit too fresh.

Have fun and lookout for deer!
