Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

A quick note, check your tires. I expected my current set to last through this trip but the last 800 miles have really worn them out. It seems that they wear really slow until about 60% and then go by pretty fast.

As of right now this is my attending list:

    Bornwildnfree
    Kilomph

    Maybes:

    Ghost?
    MotherGoose?
    Fument5uNo?

I'm ready, but the bank account isn't. Especially after having to pay taxes, got a ticket, and secured my tickets for the Mammoth playoffs.

I soon as I get a bike (within the month) I'm 100% in as long as I have a couple weeks notice! I won't make the april trip but next time for sure.

I am up for this trip, count me in! New tires—Check, but I am with Kilomph as in no heated gear, my only concern is the first ride to Buena Vista in the early hours to get there by 7am. Temperatures for this weekend are looking nice, hopefully it will carry over into 27-29th Weekend.

Thumbs up Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

I'm considering just getting there the night before and grabbing a little hotel. It's a 3.5 hour ride from Greeley to Buena anyway, that'd be an eeeearly ass morning and a looong ass day for me.

Just dress in layers and you'll be fine. A scarf helps tremendously to keep the cold off your neck.

    It's plenty warm by 8 or 9am.

Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

So it looks like we have at least 4 with up to 6 on the list now.

The dates are showing up on the extended forecast now and as of right now the weather isn't looking too great. Cloudy and rain showers. This however is the extended forecast and it's very likely to change but if the weather doesn't cooporate we may be looking at pushing the dates out to the following weekend.

    Just a heads up.

Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

Weather is looking better all though pushing it out a day could yield better results.

For example Saturday/Sunday/Monday as opposed to starting Friday.

Also, a word on temps. The expected range for this trip is 40 degrees (Colorado in the morning) to over 90 degrees in Clifton, AZ. So make sure you dress in layers and leave room in your bags to take them off.

Our current count is 5, I'd like to have an even number for hotel cost reasons (2 per room) so a 6th would be nice.

Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

Updated first post with new relevant information.

Updated the route to eliminate Independence pass as it's still closed for a few weeks.

Inserted Jan's Restaurant's address and phone number.

    Added weather forecast information.

Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

    We made it!

1,761 miles on my clock. No accidents but one big speeding ticket for me, on the way out to Buena Vista, a Trooper clocked me doing 99 in a 65 on Highway 24 just before Hartsel.

8am and I was litterly the only car out there. 6 points and will suspend my license (too many points) unless by the grace of God I can get another pending ticket I have in my town reduced to 0 points (a measly 14 over) in exchange for a larger fine, class or whatever.

Besides a rocky start, it was a great trip. Ride report to follow tomorrow, but sadly this will be my last ride of the year. I'm putting my bike away until next year when I have some more points on my license.

Re: Who can do a 3 day ride?

I have 5 remaining right now but 2 pending tickets. A 4 pt (14 over) which will be dropped to 2 and this new 6 which would be dropped to 4.

    Puts me 1 over
