    03 CBR 600rr - wont start

    hey guys,

I'm looking for some advice and maybe some help if anyone is willing. Here's the scoop.

My friends bike was started about 1 week ago, no issues what so ever. Today, the bike wont start even with a freshly charged battery. I checked his gas and he was almost empty, o we put a fresh 1 1/2 gallons in. No luck.

The starter will turnover, the bike sounds like it wants to start but wont. As soon as he pushes the ignition it has the strongest sound where it seems like its going to start then fades a little.

We then tried to push start it and the bike will start for about 1-3 secs but sounds very weak and will eventually die. Same result with 4 attempts to push start it.

We were trying to get at his spark plugs but didnt have the time to take apart the front of his bike to remove the plugs to check if they were fouled.

    Any tips, ideas, or suggestions...???

Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key?

Similar thing happened to Sir Bacon Lube: sucked some garbage into the FI rails from having the tank low with cheap gas in it. Hook it up via Jumper cables to a running car, and crank it intermittently until it starts. Do NOT crank it continuously though, but crank it for maybe a little longer than normal, and leave an equal time for the starter to cool and repeat the process. Might try some STP total fuel system cleaner in it to help along with some fresh QUALITY gas. It took us maybe 45min of cranking to finally get Adam's bike running, then once it cleared out it was ok.

    Best of luck!

If the motor was not warmed up somewhat the last time it was run, fouled spark plugs could result. I typically won't start either of my bikes unless I'm going riding or I'm performing maintenance that requires either a warm or running engine.

if once you check the spark plugs and it's still not starting, maybe check the stator. Had that happen to me before.
