It's got people all up in arms about using CO for euthanasia, but if I'm forced to decide between gas chamber and starvation and disease, I'd have to go with the gas. This might force shelters to go injection-only though, and my guess is it costs more. Dunno.

I blame this story for the bizarre dream I had last night about the two-headed kittens.
That's fairly common. When they gas animals they do it as efficiently as possible. This means piling the gas chamber with several animals. Dogs and cats together.
Depending on the animals size and position it may survive.

Article said it had hypothermia, but recovered. CO is odorless, so not much to smell. Surprised it doesn't have brain damage, but glad it doesn't.
Of course, there's no mention of all the other pets that were successfully killed in the two gassings...

I'm just kidding bro. I don't like cats but I'm not into hurting 'em. I'm surprised they don't use nitrogen or another inert gas. CO has side effects like making you nauseus, whereas from what I researched, apoxia from lack of oxygen via a nitrogen atmosphere doesn't, you just go to sleep.
