Rossi on his 2012 Ducati... right now?

Considering the current time in Sepang (11:48am at the time of this posting), it's safe to say Rossi has probably already taken his first laps on the 2012 Ducati.

I sure hope that baby is a flyer!!! (can't wait to see the results!)

Looks like Stoner wasn't feeling it that day! And I'm really hoping that Colin stays top 10 with his new ride. Or better yet, maybe this is the bike he's been waiting for?

You're so negative. Don't limit Colin with your negative thoughts, Debby Downer.

I haven't seen Burgess in any of the paddock/pit photos yet. I'm kind of assuming he's still around, just curious as to where he is.

Anyone know what his status is with Ducati for 2012??

I agree. And this is going to make the racing better........how Carmelo Ezpeleta?

I remember the first year I went to Laguna for the Formula 750 race in '87 I think. KR Sr. brought Randy Mamola and Mike Baldwin on the YZR500's in Team Kool colors. The TZ570's and new Gixxer 1100's were being flat left behind.

    WooHoo! Didn't think of that!

If the DP and GP Classes can compete on the same track for 24 hours in the Lemans, I can only hope the GP riders can muster up 20 or so laps.

MUCH, much smaller track. Plus, it's a little sketchier on the bike.

2012 MotoGP Sepang Test Day 3 Lap Times:

    1. Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda) 1'59.607
    2. Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory) 2'00.198
    3. Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) 2'00.256
    4. Ben Spies (Yamaha Factory) 2'00.495
    5. Valentino Rossi (Marlboro Ducati) 2'00.824
    6. Hector Barbera (Pramac Racing) 2'00.929
    7. Cal Crutchlow (Tech 3 Yamaha) 2'01.108
    8. Andrea Dovizioso (Tech 3 Yamaha) 2'01.257
    9. Alvaro Bautista (Gresini Honda) 2'01.384
    10. Nicky Hayden (Marlboro Ducati) 2'01.729
    11. Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda) 2'01.894
    12. Karel Abraham (Cardion AB) 2'02.218
    13. Katsuyuki Nakasuga (Yamaha Factory) 2'02.334

    17. Robertino Pietri (Avintia Racing) 2'09.640
    18. Jordi Torres (Avintia Racing) 2'10.184

Rossi & Team Ducati have to be psyched about shaving 1.6s off their time across the three days. But they'll have to keep that trend going to compete at Race 1, in just two months time.

I think that's been the goal for both Rossi and Ducati. Is getting a bike that works, responds to adjustments and is competitive. See with Rossi, he doesn't have to have the best bike to win. All he needs is one that will put him near the front to compete. The rest is all him.

I believe that was the biggest hurdle last year. Rossi just didn't have a bike that was worth two shits. It was uncompetitive and didn't respond well to him or his recommendations for upgrades.

They shaved 1.6 seconds off, basically close to a full 2 seconds off a lap time. That's a huge leap in MotoGP world. I think this new bike is a bike he's comfortable and is willing to ride it like he used to ride all his other bikes.

Rossi still has plenty left in the tank. He just needed a good enough bike to tap into it. 2012 will be interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing #46 battling it out in the lead pack.
