    Anyone upgrade their horn?

I figure this has been talked about a few times before but I was looking to get a little more specific.

Has anyone upgraded their horn to either of these:

    Hellas:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HELLA-SUPERT...d#ht_540wt_905

    The Hella cheaper alternative:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-SUPER-LOU...ht_3116wt_1209

I am thinking about throwing one on my bike, if anyone has any thoughts or has done this themselves I would like to hear from you.

Also they come in sets, I will only be using one so if anyone is interested in upgrading theirs I will have an extra one.

IIRC, Mother Goose has them on his R1...

I have a Stebel on the Duc... and I used it today to wake up a texting teenager. Loud as all get out and worked like a champ.

Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

I rarely use my horn. I prefer to give a little rev rev as well!

You used them both? I have read a little into it and saw that a couple people said that they were no louder than the stock ones, I cant imagine that being true?

If you only ran one was it plug and play or did you have to run the relay?

I'm just using 1. Trying to fit 2 under there would be pretty difficult. Just the 1 is way louder than the stock R1 horn.

It is plug & play with 1 horn. Only probably with it, is that I have to remove the horn to put it on the front stand.

What a great idea, never thought of getting a louder horn to make idiots out there's ears bleed when they cut you off or almost kill you when they turn left in front of you, sweet!

Definitely gonna look into this for my next bike.

That was all for mine. Never heard Wicky's but I bet this one is louder; Sound Output: 139 dB and sounds like a train horn!
EDIT: Psshh....139DB compared to 118DB!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Keep this in mind: sound energy doubles for every 3 points you go up in the decibel scale.)

    Per the website though:

In addition to this horn & relay, you'll need to pick up the following items from Auto Zone/Pep Boys/Radio Shack to complete installation:

    MATERIALS (not included with horn):
    - 14 to 16 gauge wire, 10 ft - 20 ft length (more than enough)
    - 2 splice-in wire connectors (blue plastic variety)
    - 6 female blade-style quick disconnects (Radio Shack 64-3049)
    - 3 ring connectors for attachment to battery terminals
    - 1 in-line fuse holder with 30 amp automotive fuse
    - weather resistant electrical tape (or just use weather-sealed heat-shrink connectors)

    Re: Anyone upgrade their horn?

^^ Ummm yeah... what he said.

I took off the charcoal canister and replaced it with the horn. Used the existing bracket and everything. Worked like a champ.

Also, there are tons of links out there where guys have split the horn in two and ran air lines.

    for a video comparison... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOppuKIFK6w

    i just go...

but a tougher sounding horn would be better than the stock. i'll probably replace , but near the bottom of things to upgrade.

    Re: Anyone upgrade their horn?

airhorns are nice and loud but heavy, labor intensive to install and take up lots of room.
Go with the plug n play Hella!
it's plenty loud and simply mounts in lieu of your stock horn.

On the side of my frame between the fairing; just zipped tied in there, but never comes loose. Can't see it unless you take the fairing off.

before you buy lemme check with my buddy.
I took mine off a while back to get the front stand to fit better and left it at his house.
Turns out I have no need for a horn.
If he still has it it's yours
