I need to replace the chain on my RF900

I have a contact in Ohio that I can get the parts at a reasonable price but I am looking for someone in the Springs to replace the chain and sprokets. I would like to know roughly what this is going to cost me. I have even considered replacing it myself but wondering if I am getting into more than I want to tackle.
Whoring myself to all ladies in town to raise 2 million dollars.

It is very difficult to explain but it is automotive engineering porn.

There's nothing difficult about it. Just depends on what you have for tools. Start by taking the front sprocket cover off. Then you can get the nut loose that holds the countershaft sprocket in place using the rear brake to help hold the wheel/chain/sprockets from turning. Next, I'd cut the chain. If you have a chain rivet tool, one of the attachments is for pushing out the pins -- you'll first need to use a grinder or dremel to take the mushroomed head off (I take off the peen off two pins to make pressing them out easier). After that you'll need to remove the rear wheel (probably have to get the rear caliper out of the way as well) and its sprocket -- straightforward here.

Reassembly is basically the opposite except you'll possibly want a chain press to put the outside plate on the master link. And I'd recommend using a rivet-type master link rather than a clip-type. Yes, you'll need the chain rivet tool to go this route, but when done correctly, I think there's much less chance of failure (master link separation).

I'd help you out myself, but I'm in Fort Collins. However, if you're going to be this way anyway, let me know and I'll lend a hand.

Have you checked Ron Ayers? I've never bought from them, but I hear they have pretty good prices. They are also a sponsor of Team Skinny - you can find their contact info on the sponsors page of the Team Skinny website, here: http://www.teamskinny.net/php/sponsors.php

Also, as for having somebody do the work for you, Cynister Cycles in the Springs is a CSC sponsor! Check here for details: http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/sponsors.html#cynister
(note, their website is currently down)
