Vela loves her some fully synthetic Repsol ... and i definitely feel the difference. And while we're at it I also use a Purolator ONE filter.

    $59.00 for six quarts http://www.amazon.com/Mobil-98JA11-R...pd_sim_auto_17

Waiting on this ebay seller to write me back. Either this is a good deal on 6 quarts or this person is an idiot and wants $44 for one quart!

Amsoil 20-50 full syn v-twin oil. Buy it by the case for about $92 plus about $20 shipping. Still can't beat it for the price! Oh and goes in the drz-434 sumo.

    Re: Which Oil?

Valvoline Max Life is SF/SG (which bikes generally recommend and is what older cars need), is semi-synthetic, and a lot cheaper than full synthetic. I've been using it fr may years.

I'll have you know, Dick, it only cost $500 more than a simple paint job but has retained it's blue book some 30% above the said paint jobs.

    Besides, Repsol is "spanish oil"
    you know you want that

As I told Nate, I used Repsol full synthetic on the Pornstar for the first 7 years of her existence.. that's why she treats me so well

Just messing with you man, I love Repsol, just not it's higher price tag. Just looking for the best bang for the buck.

You know so when people ask me to go snowboarding I have the extra money and not excuses...wink...wink

Of all the research I have done the last few days, Rotella keeps coming up and think it may be the #1 of what most people use. I'm going to have to check on this stuff. Where you get yours JJ? Just wondering who sells it? WalMart (yes I know, but damn their prices are so good!)

EDIT: So Rotella also seems to be automotive oil too? I am not finding anywhere it is a exclusive motorcycle oil. Guess this would fall into the same way as Mobil 1 and the good old debate if it will hurt the wet clutch.

Both Mobile 1 and Rotella (just recently) are motorcycle rated.. Just avoid the one's with the Friction Modifirers (bad for Wet clutch)

I get mine either at Autozone or Wallyworld. They both sell it buy the gallon for like 20 bucks (If I recall right)

Ive used it on my sv650, D675, Cat's r6, and several other bikes I have done oil changes on.. Every one of them LOVES IT!

Rotella T6 is fine for motorcycles it's JASO-MA certified. I use it not because it's cheap, but because it's a great oil.

    Re: Which Oil?

Nate- I use Rotella T6 in my bike. Not that I suggest you use T6, I don't think it won't work with your bike, but that I too use Rotella. I've been using it for almost a year (per suggestion from other KTM950 riders on ADVrider) and it seems to work fine. I don't really love it or hate it. To early to tell if there are any long-term effects. But for now, it's cheap ($22/gallon @ Wallyworld) and works. I haven't personally heard any negatives about the brand.

    Re: Which Oil?

If the oil has the ratings needed (i.e.: SF/SG etc.), there really is no "automotive" or motorcycle oil. These spec's are for the percentages of certain additives. No need to buy Amsoil or Royal Purple for the street.

If you're a REAL racer or "dyno junkie" looking to save MAYBE 1-3HP at the very top RPM limit (mostly because of the reduced viscosity and not it's claimed "lubricity") and don't care about having to change your oil after every race or dyno session, then MAYBE the expensive stuff is for you. If not, and 99% fall into this category, save your money so you can buy more beer..........(for me because I just saved you money).

OMG....now I am back to square one! Always used the Mobil 1 red cap, but people got me scared of the clutch thing and new formula. I want to bang my head!

And to top it off the guy from ebay (posted above) wrote me back and this fool does want $44 for 1 quart of Mobil 1 T4...wtf this stuff goes for $17 at a quart at WalMart, so don't see how idiots decide to more than double the price and put it on Ebay.

Shell Rotella is designed for diesel tractor motors. If that oil can keep those things from blowing up, its good enough for my abuse.

I use the Mobil 1 Racing 4T as well, only it's $10/qt at most auto parts stores... I didn't even look in Walmart but is it really $17/qt there?!?!

But hey, that eBay auction doesn't have shipping or tax! Whatta deal!
