    New Speed trap tactic

Aurora is using a blue unmarked mini van parked on the side of the hwy with a guy in the back clocking. His buddies Re waiting out of sight on the next on ramp. I-70 and airport.

Just got a nice 6 pointer.

Hopefully no one else gets that bullshit. I'd be less pissed if they weren't playing dirty.

My wife sees them on I-70 East bound every morning near the I-225 ramp (I think). One cop hides behind a big pillar under the ramp with a gun, and the other one is down the road.

They do the same thing, all over the place. Speed and risk getting caught, plain and simple.

After a year and a half, I JUST realized that I no longer live in the ONE state in the country that doesn't allow radar detectors

Last time I was in New York State the troopers were gunning people from the back of a "disabled" looking U-Haul or Ryder type van, which blocked sight to the cop cars lined up in front of it.

Here, I've seen APD pull their bikes up on the sidewalk and hide in trees.

In both cases, and in Jmetz's, if they were after true "speed control" then you'd want the police presence as a visible deterrent. If you're hiding and ambushing people then it's really just revenue collection/road taxes at work.

West bound Hampden, right before Parker Rd...

They hide in the shadows of the trees, if you don't anticipate them, you're busted.

Entrapment would mean that the cops were making you speed in order to pull you over and ticket you. It would be like the cops directing you down a one way street the wrong way and then giving you a ticket at the end.

Along I-25, just after Dry Creek, there is the Light Rail bridge over the HWY, a cop will clock people from that bridge and radio ahead people are pulled over just after County Line. Watch out for those D-bags as well.

I've got one I've had for almost 20 years, never an issues with it and it's saved me plenty of times. The best detector out there by any review, and worth the little extra $$. I need to send it in for an upgrade to the latest laser and RF signals though. I got caught a couple times by cops using the new bands and the V1 didn't utter a peep.

Sorry to hear about your 6-pointer.....

Yes, as John said, it's nothing about deterrent, it's all about revenue collection. The police are being used as nothing more than "Highwaymen", forcing travellers to pay a fee to travel the roads.

Was wondering when they'd try that....

Seen that too on Peoria. Sneaky bastidz!

75 isn't exactly autobahn, but it doesn't help that our speed limits haven't really been updated in like 60 years.

    Re: New Speed trap tactic

Best way to beat a speed trap...... ready for it? Dont speed. Now instead of soending a bunch of money on radar and scanners just slow down and do the posted limit. You know the big ass white signs with a number on it?

No tickets in 4 years and plan to keep going, been pretty calm on the R1 and don't plan to go nuts at all. Looks like more slow pace rides for me as usual this summer. Sorry to hear man.

10 over does not equate to a 6 point ticket.
