Bandimere Test & Tune Sat Apr 14, Bike Reqs?

I'm lookin at heading out to Bandimere opening weekend for a Test & Tune with some car friends of mine. Just wondering if anybody knew the specific requirements for motorcycles as far as set up and gear? This is probably more directed towards Hibs and Husky as I see you guys go there a lot. I can't really find any specifics on the Bandimere site or anything. I need to know if I need to wire anything or flush my fluids, or if I need a Snell vs DOT helmet, gauntlet vs short gloves, etc.

We're all in the Springs and headed up at way by about 0630 if anybody wants to tag along. Racers are $35 for the day, 9-5, $5 for spectators. My buddies all have newer Camaros and Mustangs, if anyone wants to bring along cars.

As per gear: I know they require a leather motorcycle jacket, leather gloves with knuckle protectors, leather boots that cover the ankles, jeans are ok if you run slower than 10 seconds and a snell/dot helmet less than 10 years old.

As per the bike: pretty much stock condition in good working order with the chain guard. An ignition cut off switch is required if you run faster than 10 seconds or over 120mph.

Its always a good time up there and $35 is a deal if you get in early and get 3+ runs in.

I've heard of the ignition cut off requirement before, does this have to be an actual pull-cord type device, or is the factory tilt sensor shutoff sufficient?

I have a two piece A* track suit, SMS plus boots, leather gloves (not gauntlets) with reinforced palms and knuckles, a back protector (not sure if it's CE rated) and a DOT but not Snell rated HJC helmet. That, and my bike is a 2012 S1kRR, all stock with factory ABS, DTC and quickshifter. When I get home I'll have to see what the stock chain guard looks like, but from what I've read here on the boards the older S1kRR will do 10.1-10.2 at 142+ at Bandimere... I doubt I'll get it quite that fast, but you never know...

Your gear sounds fine except for the helmet. The helmet must be SNELL/DOT or you can rent one of their stinky old lids. I sold my HJC and got a Scorpion (better helmet all around anyway)
Check with husky or hibs about the ignition cut off. I dont think its necessary with your set up. IMO unless you have alot of experience racing I dont think a 10.2 at 140 is going to happen but it sure is fun trying.

For bikes running slower then a 10.99 and or trapping under 125:

    -Snell helmet
-Riding jacket (doesnt have to be leather, can use mesh)
    -Boots that cover ankle
    -Denim
    -Gloves (knuckle protection not required)

Bikes running faster then a 10.99 or trapping faster then 125mph
-Full leathers (2pc ok if they zip together)
    -Snell helmet
    -Leather gloves w/ knuckle protection
    -Some sort of ignition lanyard
    -Boots that cover the ankle
    -K7 GSXR 1000-
    Few goodies here and there

Sounds like everyone has it covered....

Just another tip, on the ignition cutoff, doesn't have to be fancy. Before I bought my nice MPS lanyard cutoff, I had a piece of string wrapped around my wrist and used a self-tapping screw into the factory on/off kill switch. Works right?!? It was ghetto, but got me through tech!

I'll probably be there on April 7th (private rental) as well as April 14th. Hope to see you there! I would love to see what that new BMW can do!

Looks like everyone has everything pretty well covered. You should not be running any anti freeze in your bike per NHRA rules. The cut off switch does need to be a lanyard tethard type vs the factory tip over type for any bike running faster than 11 seconds not just faster than 10 seconds. ( I got mine from Pingle)You do not need to wire any bolts etc. The full suit is required for any bike faster than 11's. DOT helmets are NOT legal, must be Snell or SFI approved. Faster then 10's you'll need a NHRA lic with physical etc. but dont think you'll need to worry about that. Glad to see we'll have another bike there with us. If you need any help with anything I will be there with a white enclosed trailer with "Chunky Beast Racing" on it. Stop by and say hey.

Just FYI, the ignition cut off is required for any bike running faster than 11 seconds and the gear mentioned is correct for any bike running slower than 11 seconds and getting there early is definately good advice. As the night goes on you can wait around an hour between runs.

Looking at this for the kill switch:

Saw a nice write up of this installed on an s1000rr, replaces part of the MC housing mount and nicely fits on the clip on. Only problem is that the write up was for a 10-11 s1000rr with the Nissin calipers, 12 has the Brembos. Anybody work with these PMR kill switches before?

Re: Bandimere Test & Tune Sat Apr 14, Bike Reqs?

Figured it out, tech didn't even look at the bike, they were more concerned about my gear.

Anybody in the area though should grab their leathers and head down here, $35 for the day and a handful of other bikes, I got two runs down in less than an hour.

Best time so far: 11.502 @ 147.8 mph, I keep bouncing wheelies on my launches, as soon as I get that down I'm hoping to get into the 10s. Still got another 5 or more hours to try.

I am/was on the lower pit area right next to the staging lanes.
