    Re: Wheelie

I remember my first wheeile. I was so excited until my mom called out that it was time for dinner and I had to go to elementary school the next day To be fair it was a dirtbike

Actually haven't done a wheelie in a long time because never really got into them much and don't like beating up my bike!

Now who does wheelies on a 600cc without a giant pizza sized sprocket in the rear? I am talking about dropping the clutch and no power wheelies (power wheelies are way easier since you just twist the throttle), can also be done compressing front shocks and good throttle control (never could do those well, but my buddy Hoopty was a pro at them). I use to do them on a 1999 Katana that weighed more than a tank. I'm always more impressed than done on a 1000cc

My first one last weekend was a power wheelie but i actually found it to be easier to do a clutch wheelie.

You hit the balance point yet though? Now that is when they get scary! Clutch wheelies you seem to get to that point faster since it pops up quick. I am no pro at them though and never even got to switching gears while doing one; best I did was second gear wheelies and rode them out.

Then one of my best friends wrecked while doing one and he got really hurt, friend got 12 point ticket and had to go to court, then saw Chadwick and his skin grafts and got more scared, then co-workers brother crashed while doing a wheelie and died. After that I figured sportbike riding was dangerous enough. I'd love to have a dedicated stunt bike just for doing them in closed off areas. Dedicated track bike would probably come first though.

I am sure you know this, but don't let a cop see you do one even two inches off the ground. Most consider it reckless driving and will get you good!

Want to bet on this? I know because I was involved when he had to pay this guy back for the damage. He was use to riding a Vtwin SV650 so the inline was a bit different than what he was use to. Hoopty would never loop a wheelie...he use to go past the balance point and pull it back just for fun!

Don't remember the guy other than he was very short...like 5 feet tall.

The only reference I can find is this:

I can't find anything on the actual incident, so I may be wrong but that's how I remember it.

I'll back this up. He was practicing starts for the race season (on someone's bike) since he just had the SV. Soooooo.... suck it Kyle!!

BTW, that was the first day I met Loopty..... I mean Poopty.... I mean Hoopty, Barn and Big-J.
