    Re: '07-'08 Yamaha R1: Pricing?

Last week I picked up a beautiful '08 R1 with only 3700 miles, for $7200. Sapphire Blue, very clean, no white stripes, just the Yami logo at the bottom. Stock, except Corbin seats, sliders, tail kit, & flush-turns. A great start! No pics yet, but y'all know what that gen of R1 looks like.

Originally he was asking $8500, but I held out for a few weeks, then he dropped it to $7500. I told him I'd come up and buy it with $7200 cash that night. After a long pause he agreed, hahaa. Decent deal for a low miles '08, imo. Registration/taxes killed me, almost $700.

Rode up to Epic Motosports dyno day on Saturday, looked around but it was after dyno'ing was done. Got some nice bikes they're working on in there. Haven't been riding to work because I've been super sick earlier this week. I hate having a helmet on with a runny nose, coughing, etc., lol. Can't wait to get on it tomorrow though. I'm on call this week so probably can't do the CSC n0ob ride Sunday.

    Re: '07-'08 Yamaha R1: Pricing?

Might need a new rear tire, so shopping for that soon. This being Colorado, I'm gonna get the best tire that will work in rain too, not the very stickiest. Also gonna shop for exhaust. Yoshi, Akro, GYTR? Is Micron bad as someone told me? I mean it's just mufflers, can't imaging too much difference in sound. The deeper and growlier the better, heh. Need to listen to Youtube vids. Tempted to do a full exhaust w/ header/mid instead of just cans, but how much better than the stock system is that?

Also deciding between RapidBike, Bazazz & PCV. On CRN a few people recommended RB, two for BZ, and two people were against PC altogether. Multiple issues and everything piggybacks. Leaning towards RB, even though I heard U.S. support sucks.

Sweet, sounds like a good deal!

There's enough tire threads on here, so plenty of info there.

I think exhaust is really just a personal preference, especially if you're just doing slip-ons or 3/4. Listen to clips, look at pic's and decide. There are some really good deals on used systems that pop up on R1-forum.com, as well as nice discounts from vendors that might be worth taking advantage of.

I'd say skip the PC and go with the Flash-Tune interface. Flash a PC map directly to your ECU and eliminate the piggyback. Sounded like someone else with a 08' R1 wanted to go in on the interface a while back, maybe they still do?

congrats on finding one, i'm pretty sure, based on your description, that I saw this one on CL.

There are some nice looking and nice sounding exhausts. If i was inclined to spend the money, I'd be hard pressed to do Graves or FMF. I baffled my 08's stock cans, and it's pretty obnoxious. If I gutted/removed the CAT, it'd be even moreso.

PM me and we can hook up for you to hear in person if you wish.

    Again, congrats!

That'd be Mother Goose and he may still want to do that...

Yeah, my bike was on Ft.Collins Craigslist for a couple months.

Real nice Yoshi setup, but pricey:

    Or, these Micron cans:

plus this Akro mid, for ~$300 less:

That eBay exhaust is wrong, 07-08 and 09+ use different systems. Much better deals out there. Unless that y-pipe is titanium, I think it's overpriced. You can get a Leo Vince or M4 stainless steel for under $200.

If you're going to spend a grand on an exhaust, check on the R1 Forum and buy a used Akro system.

Bought my Akro y-pipe for about $180 after taxes, that was before they bumped up the price. I think they run about $220 new these days. Check with Motomummy or TJ @ Riders Discount. TJ will hook it up, just tell him you're on the R1 Forum.

    Re: '07-'08 Yamaha R1: Pricing?

Thanks for the suggestions Goose & Raven. Yeah I noticed that eBay was a misprint and is only for '09-'12. Plus the Y-midpipe looks different. I'll check out MotoMummy, R1-forum sponsors, and R1-forum forsale threads this weekend.

Anyone heard of DanMoto? That's a new one to me. I like that it's Titanium, very simple design, downturned spouts, and low cost:

Also, this Yoshi 3/4 TRC system in polished stainless, for good price:

Nevermind then, I don't want stupid loud, it's annoying. Plus neighbors hate you. They already hate my Supra enough when I have to rev high to get up the driveway curb, especially at night, lol. Clutch is heavy duty on/off, hardly any slipping allowed.

    Hey, check post#49 above.

Nice M4 3/4, decent price. Never heard M4 before, how do they sound? Normally I'm not big on black or CF, but these are pretty badass:
