I turn the key, bike powers up, fuel pump primes. Go to start it and the starter turns over very slowly a couple of times, then stops as if the battery was dead. I replaced the battery, but it still does the same thing. Need a little help from my friends so I can race next weekend. Shoot me some ideas, guys and gals!

Question - Can you bump start it?
Scott, I tried bump starting it before I replaced the battery and it wouldn't start.
Eric - did you try after replacing the battery? -
You may have a compound problem -
1) The battery was too weak - this would keep it from starting since the new bikes need significant battery power to run the electronics such as fuel injection, fuel pump ecu
2) One of the other problems (or something totally different) is also happening.
A couple more questions -
How long did you let the new battery sit after you put the acid into it?
Did you charge the new battery after adding the acid pack?
Scott, I replaced the battery with a lithium battery, so no acid. It also came charged, so I didn't need to charge it. I did not try to bump start after replacing the battery.
Good pick on the battery- I had one in the duc racebike and it worked very well.
I would give the bump start another try with the new battery - if it didn't work I'd start looking for a loose wire / connection.

The lithium might need to be "warmed up". The one in my SV sometimes acts like it is dead until I try to crank it a few tries. As it has a load put on it several times and then let it rest 15-20 seconds it will get stronger and then it cranks fine. I put the small Ah racing one in so it takes a bit to get it to turn over.
So, I took the bike outside this morning and jumped it with my car's battery. I instantly got it to start. I let my bike run up to temp, shut it off, tried starting it again, and nothing. It acted just like the battery was dead again.
Maybe the battery wasn't fully charged as advertised or your stator is not charging.
It's possible it didn't come fully charged. If I take it down to AutoZone, Batteries Plus, etc., they could test the battery, correct? I'm guessing testing a lithium battery is no different than testing a lead acid one, right?

Did you get a large enough ampacity or are you like me, too cheap to buy the big boi and just trying to get away with the cheaper one

I went with whatever battery they recommended for my bike.
Put it in your 10r and see if it cranks it.
get it started and connect a volt meter to the pos lead of meter to the pos of the batt cable off the batt. then connect the neg of the meter to the pos of the batt,,, is there a charge going to the batt thru the meter?
