How would you like to get roundhouse kicked with a motorcycle?

Glad to see there's a decent amount of bigger bikes here. I'll have a sport bike in fall, until then I'll just pretend my FJR is a 1000RR. Hope to meet some of you guys in the near future!

I put 16,000 miles on my Sprint in the past 9 years, probably about 1,500 in the last three years because riding just became too miserable to enjoy. It became too easy to put the top up on the car and turn the A/C on when it got too hot.

No thank you... Born and raised in CO. I don't deal well with humidity.

The original tree was cut down by some asshole a few years ago.
A new tree has been established a couple miles from the original.
took some pictures when I rode out to MotoGP last July.
Riding down to Austin Tx for MotoGP in a couple weeks.
I'll look for some interesting thing during the trip.

Man that's a bummer. It's been a few years since we ( my dad and I) have been on that road. Bummer the original was chopped down.

I met a woman at the gas station near the Morrison and I-70 exit who told me the story behind that tree. She is from Ely. Apparently a long time ago, there was a newlywed couple who in there celebration went out to the tree and threw a pair of each-others shoes up in the branches to symbolize happiness and ever-lasting companionship. They walked back to their homestead barefoot and that was that. The tree then grew to what it is(was) to this day. Pretty interesting huh?

Are you taking the multistrada down to Austin? You are more than welcome to stay at our campsite if you're throwing up a tent. Also more than welcome to come hangout by the fire anytime if you wish. Hope to see you down there.

Bashed: You are more than welcome to camp with us. What Rob said. If you leave CO on the 17th spend the night half way at my place. Food, drink and a place to sleep. Purcell, OK. Let me or Rob know.

I'm riding the Multi two up with the wifey so camping is a no-go situation.
I really do appriciate the offers though. We will be riding down Tuesday/Wednesday, then a trip over to the Three Sisters on Friday and Saturday/Sunday @ the Trackside. Give me a call and we can hook up @ the track, I'll buy you'all a beer.

Re: Where are the sport touring guys at?

I have a goal that might seem tame to a lot of folks, but I would like to ride my bike into each of the surrounding states around Colorado, just so I can say I've ridden in Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Has anyone ridden to any of these states? I would like to do back roads, super slab is so boring. Any ride route suggestions?

I recently bought sport touring tires 2 weeks ago, I plan to do some longer rides this season like to the western slope, durango, million dollar highway, possibly Taos. As for the headset issue, I figured maybe with all the sport touring guys in this thread maybe they can chime in on a good headset.

I bought a cheapy one off amazon to see if I would like it. But I just can't live without earplugs, the wind noise is too great (maybe my helmet sucks ass) but I would love to have a headset I could hear the navi turns and music and talk freely without having to hear the wind noise. Maybe I need a louder unit or a quieter helmet. Do you guys use earplugs and STILL are able to hear your music/talking on the headset?

Yes, with my Scala unit I can still hear over earplugs. If your current earplugs work too well consider less effective ones. I have some Hearo 33dB ones that work really well, but also some orange wally world specials that only reduce to <30dB.
